I've just started to really use this app. I'm Laura 51 yrs old and 445lbs. I'm going to do this without weightloss surgery bu hook or by crook. No harm or foul to those who engage that assistance but my issue is in my head and I have to fix that first. So who in this group is having success? I have been very overweight since about 3 or 4 years old and the problem just got worse dispite my family's help and encouragement. I can exercise and don't. I do like the right foods but eat fast food. So maybe using my words will help to put the positive things that I can do to work. Who is with me???

  • Yes you can! I joined the site months ago at the insistence of my bff who believed in it & uses it herself. I wasn't ready. I am now though, I ditched my old neglected profile and made one that suited me better. I take it seriously, but I'm not going to starve myself or live on food that will leave me dissatisfied and ready to binge (vicious cycle). You can do this, and if you stick with it (MFP or not, the commitment you make is to yourself), you will!

    Personal recommendations:
Check out Youtube for other people, especially other women who have won the battle of the bulge (with OR without surgery)
You didn't get to be your starting weight overnight, it took time, and so does taking it off. The great news is, it won't take the same amount of time :).

Being larger has it's perks, like when we set out to lose weight, we tend to have an easier go of it . It actually gets more difficult the tinier you get.

Add me as a friend :), and let's get healthy together!
