folding bicycle

I am in China for a while and the current rage here is folding bicycles. I am tempted to buy one, easy to take back and easy to carry on a bus and train here.
Does anyone have any experience with these?
Anything that I should pay attention to, when I look at these?

I ride folding bike too - they are great for commute or just simply cruise around. And agree it's so easy to transport if you want to go take it somewhere else.
The only things I want to mention is their centre of gravity is a bit higher than RB/MTB etc, so the steering is slightly more twitchy at high speed and fast downhill. And maybe don't go for those the wheel size is small eg <16 inches.
The folding joints are the parts need particular attention - eg joint along the frame "top tube" & head tube joint that folds down.
Popular brands are Dahon, Bike Friday, Brompton, Birdy. I ride Dahon coz the others are too expensive to me for a commute bike. I have a Dahon P8, 20 inches wheel, it rides well and I think it is easy to buy in China so this is a plus if you're in there.0 -
If I was buying a folder, it'd be a:
Tern Verge X30h: http://youtu.be/TXpq9iI51kw
or
Dahon Vector X27h: http://youtu.be/VynkQhdw9IA
Same bike (I guess).
Both credible folding roadies though0 -
Quite like the Airnimal Chameleon personally...

You are right; nice machine - but at £3200 :noway:0 -
I said I Quite Liked it, not that it was cheap, or that I could afford it. From what I've heard though, one of those could well be a creditable "only roadbike", rather than just something to bash around on whilst on your jollies or to/from work :shrug:0

Thanks everyone.
I looked around a bit. I think I am going to get the Dahon Formula S18, which is about $750 here.0
