Hi everyone.

I just started eating gluten free a few days ago after reading a few studies that show woman with PCOS (which I have) often have gluten sensitivies making it hard for them to lose weight. As many as 85% of woman with PCOS are gluten sensitive or even intolerant. I tend to eat low carb anyway so I'm hoping this won't be too difficult of a transition for me. I think the biggest surprise is all the hidden gluten in foods. In the last 2 days of eating totally gluten free I've noticed that my joints aren't aching and I'm not as bloated as I usually am.

What are some of the indications that you've eaten gluten? How do you know if you don't have Celiacs? Abdominal pain? gas? diarrhea? (I know, tmi). I'm still learning here so any info would be very helpful. Thanks!

It will be different for everyone. Some people can eat little bits and have no issues at all, some people get sick off breadcrumbs, some are sick for a few hours, some for weeks.

I have celiacs (the only way to know if you have it is to be tested) and I can't handle the tiniest bit. Cross contamination is a huge issue for me. If I do get something with gluten (even crumbs) then I have diarrhea, gas, bloating, I'm exhausted, joint pain (in my right flexor muscle and my left elbow, every time) and I get massive mood swings.

But I was talking to another mom during my daughters dance class a few weeks ago. She also had celiacs and still eats gluten quite often. The only issue she has is stiff finger joints. That is it. They just happened to find out she has celiacs while testing for something else.
