Good morning team! It is time for a new challenge for the group! Woo hoo… Let’s go team!
**Food challenge- Drink two glasses of water before each meal.
“Guzzling water just before mealtime helps fill you up with liquid volume—so you wind up eating less food during the meal. In one study, dieters who drank two glasses (16 ounces) of H2O before meals consumed fewer calories at meals than those who didn’t, and lost 44 percent more weight over the course of 12 weeks.
For an added edge, swap out your water glasses for two mugs of green tea. Research shows green tea may be even more effective than water at curbing appetite at meals, and, as an added bonus, it gives your metabolism a slight boost.” -Joy Bauer on the Today Show
**Exercise challenge- Multitask to fit in some extra exercise.
In addition to your exercise you usually would do, we are going to find times in the day that we can sneak in additional calorie burns while multitasking. This could be walking around the living room while watching tv, taking the furthest parking spot, sitting on a balance ball at your desk at work… you get the idea. Be creative and share with us on here what you did to fit in that extra exercise. This is what Joy Bauer said about the subject:
Joy Bauer: I’m a huge multi-tasker! And being that exercise is a top priority for me, I find ways to combine my workout with other things on my to-do list. Most days of the week, I hop on the treadmill for at least an hour, and I read new nutrition research articles or take conference calls while I walk (I’m also capable of Blackberrying through an entire workout!) . I’ll squeeze in an exercise session whenever I can—in the afternoons if I’m at the Today show studio in the early morning, or right after the kids leave for school if I’m not on air that day. If the weather is nice and I have the extra time, I take my workout outdoors to enjoy some fresh air. Aside from my daily walk, I make sure to do 20 minutes of strength training three times each week.
Log onto our board and share with us how your water before meals is working, what you did for your usual exercise and also how you got creative for some extra exercise! Have a great week Team Bob!

Awesome challenge!0

While folding laundry.... leave the bedroom door open so the baby can walk out. Let her walk through the living room, through the kitchen and down the hall (I can see her) then sprint to catch her before she gets to the cats water bowl in the laundry room. Repeat. :-)0
-
While the baby is eating in her highchair, do high kicks, knees, squats and lunges while she laughs.0

Lol! Those are great Bokatok!! I can just imagine your little one giggling away as mommy is moving all over the place!0

I did awful at the challenge yesterday!! My tooth hurt so bad I avoided any extra movement. I am on painkillers today so I am sure I will do much better at this. As far as the water before meals goes... I didn't do that either. I had to hurry and eat dinner before running to the dentist. I was afraid that if I drank much water I would need to use the bathroom while in the dentist chair. That happened to me once during a root canal. The mask was on my face and I had my mouth open and was trying to say "I need to go to the bathroom!!" The dentist couldn't understand, so I had to snap off my mask and make a run for it. I guess it was something about how the dentist chair has you leaning back put pressure on my bladder. Embarrassing for sure and I didn't want a repeat!! :noway:0

Yuck. How are you feeling today?0

The Dr. prescribed prescription Motrin for the pain and an antibiotic for infection. The medication helps but it made me extremely tired today. I didn't get the call today to see when they can get me in to the endodontist for the root canal. I got in my water part of the challenge. For the exercise I just tried to move more when I was standing to burn some extra calories. I will be glad when I am feeling myself. I feel like I need a good burn! Somehow tomorrow I will gather some energy to do better.0

Hi all!
I'll have no problem with the water part of this. I tend to drink a ton of water. I've made a goal this week to drink only tea instead of water.
I get some multi-tasking exercise in by doing jumping jacks while I'm getting ready in the morning, it helps wake me up. I also do calf raises on the stairs while I'm waiting for my toddlers to go up.0 -
That's great Mazarith! Jumping jacks will wake you up real quick! Awesome job with your water too! I read somewhere that calf raises are the best exercises you can do for that part of your body. Sounds like you rocking your weekly challenge!0

I have been getting in my water before meals. Today I am going to do a squat whenever I go up or down the stairs at my house.0

Here is a good tip I found on a ISSA blog I was reading. I am going to do and and thought you might like to check it out too .
It’s been said that with patience and persistence, one can achieve almost anything. But to be persistent, you’ve got to be motivated and if you’re like many people that can be a tough thing to do.
Here’s a little trick that can help you stay motivated to change how you look and feel.
Each day on a little Post-It note, write down one reason why you want to look and feel different and tape it to a sheet of paper. Do the same thing each day for 21 days.
Look at all the previous days and reasons you wrote down and do so first thing in the morning and last thing at night before bed. Thinking of new reasons will get easier with each day you do this.
At the end of 21 days, don’t be surprised if you feel some positive changes inside – thinking, believing and acting differently – that can help change your body and life.
Whenever you find yourself feeling a bit less motivated, simply look at all the reasons you wrote why you want this for your life and that’ll put back on the right road again and help keep you there.0 -
That is a great idea! I might give it a shot. I am still doing the same kinds of stuff. Adding in what Incan when I can. The water is easy for me too.0

You are doing great Bokatok!
I'm going to try to hit the gym in the morning tomorrow for a good burn. In the afternoon we are taking our elderly neighbor to an awesome bakery for lunch. It is called Sweet-E-licous and the owner won a ton of first place prizes from pie contests on the Food Network. It is a charming little place that serves up treats in pretty pink boxes. We are going there for lunch so I am going to be as healthy as possible but I want to have at least a taste of that award winning pie. That's where that a.m. burn comes in!
Besides the squats today, I was sneaking in some extra exercise by walking the racquetball court while I was waiting for my son to serve up the ball.0 -
This is me and my lovely neighbor at the bakery today. The picture is a little too big to fit, but gives you an idea of the cute place.

That place looks yummy. Whats in your box?0
-
I'm not telling! Just kidding. It is a small pie. I bought it for someone I know as a thank you for taking time out of their Saturday to look into our van and see if they could tell what is wrong with it. They couldn't tell about the van, but appreciated the pie. :bigsmile:0
-
I did o.k. with the water part of the challenge today. I also put a exercise step in our living room so that I could step on commercials or while I watch a show to get a little extra exercise in.0
-
What did YOU have at the bakery? Come on make us all jealous.0
