Buying a Barbell

I'm thinking of buying this barbell. Will a 150kg rated bar be enough?
I'm thinking of ordering this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/York-80-Beefy-Bar-Plain/dp/B0015ULUZI/ref=sr_1_1?s=sports&ie=UTF8&qid=1361975415&sr=1-1

As a female, I'm not sure you're ever going to go above 150kg (unless you're interested in really progressing in power lifting). But, it only weighs 10.3kg (most random number ever), and so I'd worry about the bar bending. But, it's rated for 150, so I guess it should be fine up to that point. Also keep in mind that it's not an olympic bar, so I don't know what size weights it takes. Not sure what size hole the weights will need to be to keep them on. Also, it would affect your total weight (just add it up right, that's not too difficult), and it would allow you to start your lifts at a lower weight.0

Part of the reason for liking the look of it is because it takes standard weights (1" or 25mm) and I already have quite a lot of standard cast weights. I'm just starting out so I'll probably upgrade in time.
I'm totally open to other barbell suggestions as long as they're available in the UK.0 -

Given I can afford this now and I'm doing quite well at buying up standard weights cheaply (whereas it's harder to find Olympic weights) I might buy this now and sell it on if I need to move up.0

I think its a good buy. It will take a hell of a lot for you to grow out of. Plus if you already have some weights for it that 's just a bonus. The reviews seem positive too.
Might wanna browse craigslist real quick for olympic if you think you might end up wanting those. Sometimes you can find them cheap.0 -

Sounds like a good idea to me. Still trying to figure out 10.3 kilos, which is what 22.something ridiculous and not even? I'm in what measuring system it is a whole number :laugh:0 -
Standards are supposed to be 22lbs that is odd0

Thank you for the advice. Sadly there's no Craigslist in the UK. I've been trying Gumtree for a while (the closest thing we have, I think) and got plenty of actual weights but no bar.0 -

Yeah, I really can't quite work out why it's 10.3kg. I figure I'll just ignore that 0.3kg when lifting. :-)0 -
I think in spain standard bar is 9.8
also pretty random
The non olimpic weights can be up to 10%! off anyway, so just round it to 100 -
I've just gone ahead and ordered the bar so I can start working out tomorrow. :-)
I may also be getting a York fitness bench for less than a tenner which I could pick up this afternoon. It may possibly have to work double time as a weights bench and substitute piano stool, though. :-)
Tomorrow is shaping up to be a workout day of win!0
