Legs!

First of all, sorry for being silent!! I've had a lot of stuff going on in my life but now I'm getting back into this, full-speed!

Ok, now that that's been said... Legs. Describe your legs when you were at your heaviest/heavier. I'm about halfway to my goal right now (160-170 from 230), but my legs don't seem that much different! I mean, I seem to be losing most of my weight from the top down. I know that's not all that uncommon, but I was wondering if the taller ladies had it harder?

I'm 6' and have always been a pear/hourglass figure, narrow waist w/ fuller bust and hips, but I carry most of my weight in my hips and thighs, and I guess legs in general. I was looking at some progress pics I took and, while I can see a slight change, my legs still seem like thick tree trunks to me. I don't know if that's just how I'm losing the weight, or if maybe that has to do with height and needing to have a sturdier/wider base (think arches) for all the extra me I've been carrying around for so long?

Thoughts? Pictures? I'm open to everything! :)

Well, I am still at my heaviest at the moment, but I have been much slimmer! I carry most of my weight below the belly button, and my thighs, hips, butt are very jiggly, thick, and cellulitey at the moment. Although being in good shape helps, the time when my thighs FINALLY didn't look "thick" was when I was SLIM. I'm 5'11", about 200 pounds. When I was participating in triathlons (but not doing strength training, really), I weighed about 150 and my thighs looked a LOT slimmer. They still weren't skinny, though!

I guess what I'm trying to say is that although a lot of it has to do with fitness and exercise, a lot of has to do with how and where you carry your weight. I bet you'd do better than I did if you added/ included weight training - that will go a long way toward firming things up!

I've been running for about 6 years now so they've slimmed all over & become muscular. However, my thighs still touch & probably will forever. Just gotta learn to deal!

What is your current exercise regime?

My legs have slimmed down a lot. I've always had huge calves, but now they are more muscle definition - less fat. As for the thighs, they are still a work in progress. They have slimmed down a lot, but still touch towards the top. Amazingly though, I do have a little diamond/hole at the very top of my thighs, between my legs, that you can see directly through.

I lost my knee fat. That was my own small victory. I'm 6' tall also, and I also lost my weight from top down. If you look in my profile pictures, you can see my wedding dress. I'm all bone up top, but I still have dat *kitten*.

I'm not too concerned about it. i got rid of my knee fat, so that was my own small victory. I just discovered jumping squats last night. I'm hoping those take care of the last of my saddle bags.

I don't work out often, so that could also be why I haven't lost a lot on my legs.

I am 5'11 and have always had great legs IMO... haha! even at 250ish i still had nice legs, proportionate, just larger. i carry my extra weight in my stomach mostly. but the very very top of my thighs are bigger than i would like... but still nothing to complain about. i wonder if it is a genetic thing, your leg shape? because i have friends who have "tree trunk" like legs, who are tall, short, slim, fat... whatever. i think its a "thing"

here are some pics, hopefully showing you what i mean...

    2010 - about 245lbs

Jenn's SEXY MAMA LEGSSSSSSSSSS!! WHOOOOOOOOOOOOT! hahaha

I've always had FAT THIGHS that I HATE!!! And since September or so when I started working out hard core I've been focusing on my trouble area - thighs/*kitten* -- and I now have my thighs at the skinniest I can remember them ever being!!

My hard work has paid off.... I understand your body shape has some to do with it - but I also think some people use the excuse "I just have big thighs" wayyyyyyyyyyyy too freely! If you don't like it - work on it and see results! I still have a ways to go before my legs are where they need to be for swimsuit season - but the next 3 months I am gonna keep on keepin on and I know I will get there!!

I am 6'2" and have a 37" inseam, BTW. I am ALLLL legs lol Like a spider!

Yes, Jenn does have sexy legs!! Wish I did! I have always put weight on really evenly and it's coming off of my legs really slowly. I'm also 6'. Lately I've been having my sister (I call her Dr. Denim) take in the waist of my jeans because the are falling down, but the legs are pretty much staying the same ;-(

My legs were huge from the knee up and quite chunky from ankle to knee but not really massive. Now my legs are very slim but shapely. I can rock a mini skirt now. This is a good job as my poor boobs are tine and doing the spaniels ear things so need keeping firmly under wraps.
I've walked and run a lot, and I think this has been beneficial. When I was slim previously I still had thunder thighs-not any more !!

I didn't start to notice much change in my legs until I really started exercising. Losing weight did wonders for my face and upper body my legs and arms looked just as fat as ever until I began lifting weights and pushing myself with my cardio workouts.
