How long does it take you to get through your workouts. Right now in week 13 its starting to take quite a bit of time.

Workout A
Squats all 3 minute rests About 17 minutes.
Bench press all 90 second rests About 10 mins
Barbell rows first 3 90 seconds then last 2 3 mins. 9 mins
15 mins of warmups

Total A
51 mins

Workout B
Squat all 3 minute rests. 17 mins
OHP all 5 minute rests 27 mins
Deadlift no rest 1 min
15 mins in warmup time

Workout B
60 mins.

Then add on 15 mins each way to the gym. Should be interesting when I have to go up to 5 mins on each lift. Also I feel like it actually takes a bit longer than this so I might have not calculated right.

Glad I have a lot of time on my hands lol

At the end it was taking nick and I together about 80 minutes. Once you creep close to 90 it's time to drop to 3x5 on more lifts. It shouldn't take more than 90 (medhi says so on a blog somewhere)

Mine are in the 40 min range, mostly because I feel like a total goober standing around waiting between reps and then can't take it anymore. :embarassed: It has been creeping up steadily, though, as I figured out that sometimes I really do need those 3 min.

Mine is taking between 60-80 minutes lately. I rest at least 3 minutes between sets, sometimes 4 or 5 between sets 4 and 5. I rest 30s-2 minutes on warmup sets, and give myself 3-4 minutes between last warmup and OHP/Deads. Depending on the exercise I need to rest for a bit after my last set, and before I start warming up for the next one. I don't time most of my warmup rests, so these are guesses. I use a timer on my phone work sets though, also for my last deadlift set, and after last ohp warmup.

I also have time on my hands, so I don't mind.

So for workout A is ~1h13 minutes

    Squats ~26 minutes
    Body weightx5 30w+30r
    Bar 30w+30r
Weight1 30s+1.5r (shoulder warmup during rest)
weight2 30w+1.5r (shoulder warmup during rest)
weight3 30w+2r (shoulder warmup during rest)
    Work sets 30w+3r x5

    Bench ~23.5
    Bar 30w+30r
    Weight 1 30w 30 r
    Weight 2 30w 1 r
    Weight 3 30w 2r
    Work sets 30w+3r x5

    Row~23.5
Same as bench, but maybe and extra 2 minutes if I need longer rest between 3, 4 and 5.

    Workout B is ~65.5 minutes

    Squats ~26 minutes
    Body weightx5 30w+30r
    Bar 30w+30r
Weight1 30s+1.5r (shoulder warmup during rest)
weight2 30w+1.5r (shoulder warmup during rest)
weight3 30w+2r (shoulder warmup during rest)
    Work sets 30w+3r x5

OHP ~29m The bar is so close to my max, that I have to rest longer between warmups.
    Bar 30w+2r
    Weight 1 30w 2 r
    Weight 2 30w 3 r
    Work sets 30w+3r x3+4r+5r

    Dead~10.5
    Barbell 40 SLDL: 30w 1r
    Weight 1 30w 1.5r
    Weight 2 30w 2r
    Weight 3 30w 3r
Work Weight 1w (reset after each rep.)

ETA: I warm up for 10-20 minutes of light cardio, and try to stretch for 5-10 minutes. I'm at the gym for dayssssssssss.

EATA: I became much more focused on my warmup sets, after I realized one day that my 3rd OHP set was way easier than the first one. Lightbulb moment!:blushing:
  • Takes me a couple hours. But I spend a lot of time practicing Olympic lifts too.

I'm creeping up to the 45 minute mark. I wear my HRM to track timing, and workout A on Monday was 43 minutes.

I'm hitting about 60 minutes. I start the HRM, though, when I jump on the elliptical to get warmed up for a few minutes.

It takes me between 70 and 80 mins. I'm going to give it one more month and then drop to 3 x 5, as I get bored when it takes that long.

a pretty solid 60 minutes...I usually only take 90 secs for squats but need the full 3 minutes for OHP, and BP...last night I needed the full 3 mins for my squats though...and man I'm sore today...wtf? :grumble:

I'm starting to get close to 60 minutes, which is becoming problematic as I workout before work. I'm getting a little later to work as the weeks progress. I can get to the gym about 15 minutes earlier (when they open), but beyond that, I'm going to need to figure something out.

Between 20 minutes and yoga and lifting, my weight training days take me a good 90 minutes, a bit less on deadlifts days (cause only 1 set).

Then again I take my sweet time with things, sip on my protein shake and my water, log my sets on Fitocracy, move my own weights around, etc.

I'd say 60 minutes with set up and tear down. My weights aren't all that high yet, but I did notice today took longer...

this is becoming my problem too...I work out at home, but getting up before 5:30 is not working out for me as of yet...

andy and i take about 60 minutes for workout A (sans deadlifts) and about 45-50 minutes for workout B.

i do warmups with the bar and then add maybe 20lbs for another set, then add my actual weight.

if it's workout B day, then i do 10minutes of HIITs after lifting, and cooldown/stretching for 5 minutes.

i workout before work, and i used to be solidly finished before 8am, but now it's creeping to 8:05, or 8:10, gotta get up earlier i guess.

    35-40 for B
    45-55 for A

I'm takng 3 min rests on benches & OPs, 1-2 min on squat, 1-2 on rows and none on DLs. Times are going up because I'm having to do more warm-up sets these days.

Plus usually 30-45mins cardio before, cos I'm masochistic like that, so I'm looking at 90-105mins for the whole workout.

So glad I found this post. I just started and it makes more sense on why I'm fast. It's because I'm weak. ;-) Longer rest periods when weight goes up.

Week 12 of cycle 1 I was getting closer to 60 min with warm up sets and all. Now that I'm week 1 of cycle 2 and starting with my deload weights I'm back to being quick again. This morning was B and I was done in about 35 minutes mostly due to 90 sec rest (if that) between sets.

How much did you end up deloading?

Just 20% roughly on squat and dead, 15lbs on the row....I had to work on form there anyway, and only 5lbs on my OHP and bench because that is already my weak area.
