Disappointed

So, I did my 7th workout today and was really excited. that I got thru it because It is getting more difficult very quickly.
But that is not what disappoints me.
What disappoints me is that both of the guys who work in the Wellness room at the Y who help me with my lifts are leaving
One got a "real" job instead of part-time and the other is enlisting in the army.
Since the Y ONLY has a Smith machine and there will be no one in the Wellness room working anymore I am worried I will not have anyone to help me The times I usually have to work out are when there is usually no one else there except for peeps doing cardio. Older peeps who would not be able to spot me or be able to get the barbell up to me for squats since we do not have a squat rack.
I guess I will just have to break down and buy a equipment and use it at home.
I was really hoping to avoid that tho since they guys are always so great to help with form.
*sigh*

I always get sad when people leave...
You will find a way that works.
I don't get why you would get equipment for your house though. Is there someone there that can spot you or help out?0 -
I have had a smith machine at home for years(never used it once lol), but from all of the great people here I knew that when I started lifting I needed a rack and a barbell. If you can buy some used off craigslist or something I'd give that a go! It's totally worth it.0

I think this is probably a blessing in disguise. It's sad to see them go, but now you can put your equipment together and do this on your own and get a ton of confidence because you are able to do it. Plus it may even be safer than the way you were doing before. Just set the safety bars and you'll be fine.
Check craigslist for cheap stuff. Also play it again sports if you have one near.0 -
I think it may be a blessing in disguise as well. I would actually much prefer working out at home but would miss the help I get with form from the boys.
I am not much of a craigs list user....oh heck not at all actually.
I have had several friends that have had a terrible time with purchases on craigslist and have been kinda leery of using it.
But I guess now would probably be a good time to get on there and check since we are in the end of the 1st Quarter of the year and can probably find some stuff for a decent price from those who are done with their New Years Resolutions now.0 -
I'd be bummed too. I keep waiting to find someone at my gym who would want to lift with me!0

I know the feeling. All the ladies at the Y use the little dumbells if they use any at all.0
