Warrior Dash

Anyone else planning on doing the Warrior Dash in May? I have never participated in a 5K before but I'm seriously thinking about signing up! I have started running at least a mile or two a day and going to try to work myself up to 3 miles in order to train for it. Any other advice from someone that has participated in one before? Thanks!

I see you are from Ada, so am I. Is the Warrior Dash in Ada? Ada has an annual July 4th 5K at Wintersmith as well.

I have done three 5ks and my wife and I are training for a half marathon in May.

Usually for a 5K you would train some at longer distances to build endurance. Most runners do one long run a week at a slower pace to practice this. For a 5K 6-8 miles is typical, reached by gradually increasing the length of the long run each week.

I'd recommend finding a novice 5K training program to follow. C25K is good, but it sounds like you may already have worked up to running some distance, so check out some others too.

    Enjoy your training..

Hi Alan! It's good to see someone else on here from Ada :)
The Warrior Dash is actually in Inola (close to Tulsa) I have never ran in a 5K before but I may have to check out the one at Wintersmith. I thought about trying to run in another 5K before the Warrior Dash that way I know somewhat of what to expect. Good luck with the 1/2 marathon! That is awesome. I looked at the Oklahoma City Memorial Run but there is no way I could even think about running that many miles. Maybe one day :)
Thanks for the advice and good luck with your training as well!
