I'm a fan of Magness and Hutchison. Both of them have excellent blogs and I'm working my way through Hutchison's book

Great article. The best thing I ever did for my running was change my foot strike and stride.

I read the article, and I know I want to change my stride, I just don't know how. My husband runs with a midfoot strike, but I just can't get the hang of it. Maybe because I'm so uncoordinated? Meh.

There are drills you can do (quick steps for example). Go for the sensation of "nose before toes." When you have a short stride this is what it feels like

you might also want to check if any of the running stores in your area offer Good Form Running clinics. They are free and they use video analysis of your gait and have you practice during the clinic. They do stress that changing your stride is a gradual process, but I learned some good tips! their website also has videos of the form - here's the link - http://goodformrunning.com/

Thank you for the info, I have had my stride analyzed on video to get my running shoes. But that was before I lost weight. I was thinking about doing it again now that I'm at (or close enough to) my target weight. I will look into the website that was mentioned also.

I cant recommend this enough! I have used this website and it made a lot of sense! I changed my stride and I run faster with less injuries.

Had my stride corrected when I got ITBS. Don't wait until you get to this place to make corrections. Shorter, more manageable strides have kept me healthy and immediately picked up 20 seconds/mile.

I just started learning how to run like this and it really makes a difference.
