Hello Team Bob!:flowerforyou:

We are getting near the finish line of this competition and I thought now would be a good time to reflect on how we are doing and what we have learned. Let's challenge ourselves to really look inwards and see how we are changing and what we are learning about ourselves. Think it over, and then post on here things such as:

How are you doing with your health goals?
What have you learned?
Is there anything you wished you worked harder on?
What are you proud of yourself for?
Is there anything you think you need to change?
Is there someone on the team that motivates you?
Do you have anything coming up that might be a challenge when trying to reach your weight goal?
Is there anything about your health journey that surprised you?

You get the idea!!

Log on here throughout the week to update us on how your journey is going and to support your teammates.

FIRST OFF! i'd like to say, what ablessing , being apart of Team Bob has been! I know we have another week or so..but i can truly say, that embracing this journey in community, has been such a treat!

*How are you doing with your health goals? - with my over all health goal's, i'm doing okay.. i would have hoped to be alot more lb's down, but, i've embraced the journey, and realized..some weeks are harder than others.. and the most important thing, is to just try.. and make better choices.

*What have you learned? - I'v elearned, that's it's alot easier for me to lose weight , when I'm not eating meat..and a wonderful RICE substitue it steamed cauliflower!!!! (changed my life) Also learned that, having you guys as accountability , an encouragement.. is so helpful!

*Is there anything you wished you worked harder on? I wish i was more disciplined in my eating.. some day's i would consciosly choose to "SPLURGE" and not turn it around for anothe rweek (sigh) .. now.. i think it's best to actually hit a goal, and then splurge maybe? idk.. and even then..not to over do it.

What are you proud of yourself for? I'm proud of myself for aiming to be honest.. in my posting and in my tracking.. in the past i would have tried to hide it.

Is there anything you think you need to change? I need to make it a point to actually get in the gym more, and not just , eat little... I've noticed a significant diffference..in my appetite, and how i lose, when im working out more consitently.

Is there someone on the team that motivates you? 6mimi and so many others.. but really our team lead...has been an amazing encourager.. there were a few times..when i had gained, and almost wanted to stop..and she pushed me to do better and keep it up..

Do you have anything coming up that might be a challenge when trying to reach your weight goal? My neices birthday party, is sure to be riddled with sweets.. but this 5k i'm runningi with my sister-in law shoul dhelp tokeep me focused.. till then.. smh

Is there anything about your health journey that surprised you? i actually thought it's be easier.

Thanks for sharing with us ahaley48! You are a blessing to us too!
I think that it is great that you are being so honest. That is really important. It helps you be accountable and also to look back at weeks and see successes or what you could have improved.
I like to get a good burn at the gym too. If it is cardio it reduces stress and provides extra calories if you choose to eat them back. If it is strength, you are building muscle and that burns more calories at rest than fat does. Really it's a win win either way!
Now that you know the birthday party might have temptations, you can make a plan on how to enjoy yourself but still stay on track. Let us know if you want us to brainstorm ideas with you. That is exciting that you have a 5K coming up! When does that take place?
I'm proud of you for never quitting this challenge. You are reflecting and making better health decisions every day.

I feel very motivated but still frustrated as it is very hard for me to push past this point of weight loss. I know that there is more than the numbers on the scale and that inside my body there is great changes happening too, but everyone wants to see that scale move! I am happy to be moving forwards, doing better each day.

I have learned that I need to watch/increase my protein levels so that I can feel full longer. It really makes a huge difference.

I wish I would have worked harder on my food diary and calorie counting. It takes a whole lot of time to burn off the calories in two cookies!! I am going to really work on that part of my health plan.

I am proud of myself for never giving up even though I have had some really stressful personal times lately and with some of my health conditions I am in pain quite often.

I need to change that eating! Less carbs, and more protein is going to work best for me. I also need to increase my veggies.

This entire team has been so motivating to me. I think of team mates facing stresses such as illness, family members near death, job stresses, vacations, injuries, financial difficulties, and so on. I know you all have a lot of stress in your life. BUT you didn't quit! I see you running 5Ks, half marathons, running that extra mile, killing 2000 calories over the weekend, pushing yourself to set a good example for your families, learning to love cardio, and so many other inspiring events. It reminds me of the lyrics to the song "Titanium".... "Knock me down, but I won't fall... I am titanium!". Team Bob, you are titanium! I am motivated by that inner strength you have demonstrated this entire challenge.

I have a vacation coming up in April that might challenge me with the eating. In the past, every vacation was focused around food. I am going to try really hard to focus this one on movement and having fun with family.

I tried to be honest with myself and my answers just came out. :)

How are you doing with your health goals?
I think I am doing fairly well with my health goals. My BMI is starting to come down to a more acceptable level. I am no longer obese :). My clothes are fitting better and I feel better overall.

    What have you learned?
That I can do it. I can even inspire others to do it. It isn't that hard, you just have to do it!

Is there anything you wished you worked harder on?
Not really. I think looking back at any challenge a person can nitpick themselves to death. I try not to do that in general. It only brings me down. I do wish I had decided to make these changes right after my daughter was born instead of waiting so long. Better late than never right???

What are you proud of yourself for?
Getting off my rear and making it happen. 25 pounds is a huge amount of fat to drop.

Is there anything you think you need to change?
How I think about and see myself. I frequently feel that I am just not good enough. I am aware of it and I work on it often. On the days I feel that way I tend to use food to compensate for my negative feelings.

Is there someone on the team that motivates you?
    Everyone.

Do you have anything coming up that might be a challenge when trying to reach your weight goal?
It is almost Girl Scout Cookie time isn't it?

Is there anything about your health journey that surprised you?
That I could do it. Honestly. I thought I couldn't. I made it happen and am still making it happen.

How are you doing with your health goals?
I think I'm doing pretty good. I have lost 20lbs since the start of this challenge and I'm very close to meeting my first mini goal of 24lbs before this challenge is over.

    What have you learned?
The power of discipline. When I started this journey I knew it would be a big adjustment for my family. I've been at their beck and call for 15 years and did absolutely nothing for myself. I was determined to make myself a priority. I've learned that I have so much more to give after taking care of myself first.

Is there anything you wished you worked harder on?
Preparing more meals. Most of my healthy meals are on the weekend when I have more time to cook. During the week DH cooks for the kids and after my p.m. workout I just find something healthier to eat. I eat pretty healthy but I want to prepare more of my meals.

What are you proud of yourself for?
Sticking with it!! It wasn't easy getting the family to respect my time. Actually, it was a struggle and at times I had to shake off the guilt and remind myself that this was something I had to do. Now that I have been doing this for a few months I'm a tad bit flexible.

Is there anything you think you need to change?
Hmmm.. the benefits have been so rewarding I can't say that I would change anything..

Is there someone on the team that motivates you?
I came to this site to use a food diary. I never thought I would link with so many wonderful people. My Team Bob is freakin' awesome and are the best motivators!!

Do you have anything coming up that might be a challenge when trying to reach your goal?
Life!! It's about finding balance and being aware of what you are eating.

Is there anything about your health journey that suprised you?
Yes, before losing my first 5lbs I begin to feel alive!! It was like the awakening of a dead spirit! I'm happy today by just taking time out for me. This is the only thing I do for me..

My neighbor gave me a box of girl scout cookies today.

Is there anything you wish you worked harder on?
    -Getting more sleep,

Is there someone on the team that motivates you?
Heck yes! Pretty much everyone, but especially super team leader 6mimi, bokatok, & mseye! You guys are on it and on fire!!

    - How horrible I felt and that I just let it go on for so long.

Your dress sounds really pretty Mazarith! You have been doing so wonderful, even with all of the wedding stresses you have been under. When is the big day? I am not worried about the honeymoon.... Pretty sure you will be getting in your exercise. Lol:wink: Thanks for being an inspiration to us all!

I have been thinking all week about these questions and why it is that I can go strong for weeks and then fall of the wagon. It took a couple of weeks of travel to get derailed and I have been having trouble getting back into the groove. I am so sick of setting out to eat well and then making bad decisions. Today, I started the Dr. Oz 3 day detox plan just to force myself to get back on track. Hopefully it helps because we are headed to Florida for the weekend and i don't need any more reason to delay.

How are you doing with your health goals? - I am doing much better with exercise, but still not 100% of where I need to be to make it as basic as brusing my teeth.

What have you learned? I make excuses and socialize too much with food/wine.

Is there anything you wished you worked harder on? clean eating and running

What are you proud of yourself for? losing some weight

Is there anything you think you need to change? my mindset

Is there someone on the team that motivates you? everyone!

Do you have anything coming up that might be a challenge when trying to reach your weight goal? more vacation

Is there anything about your health journey that surprised you? yes, that I didn't hot my goal. I always meet any goals that I set in life except for when it comes to fitness/weight.

    Thanks for sharing!:flowerforyou:
I totally understand the food part. Vacations can be so hard on a fitness plan. Maybe for your weekend in Florida you can go with a plan of attack. Some ideas are to pack some of your own healthy foods and to plan some fun around physical activities. I hear that brushing your teeth after each meal/snack helps a lot from any mindless munching.
You have done really great and can be really proud of yourself. You are making healthy decisions every day and are going to reach that goal!!
