How long does it take you to do your workout?

I am debating between 5X5 and a different workout that is full body, three days a week. The other workout I am referring to takes me just under an hour, can 5X5 be done in an hour?
Some of these lifts intimidate me :blushing:

Hi :-)
I'm on week three of 5x5 ... It doesn't take me more than half an hour ... And I'm loving it :-)0 -
Yoga (20 minutes) + lifting takes about an hour (give or take)
To answer your question: Yes, 5x5 can be done in an hour. Especially at the beginning when the weight is lighter and you need less rests in between sets. Starting 5x5 workouts usually will run you about 30 minutes or so.0 -
yes .. within an hour.... As you go up in weights you will want to rest more ( say a minute and a half compared to 30-45 seconds).... Goodluck!!!0

I get done right at or a little more than 60 minutes, but I jump on the elliptical for a few minutes to warm up before stretching and body-weight squats.0

I'm in week 10. My workouts take 70 to 80 mins at this point, including warmups. The weights are really heavy and I'm resting 3-4 mins in between sets, which is why it takes so long. So keep in mind that the workouts may not be less than an hour forever.0

Ditto for me. Today's workout (including warmup, cool down, rests, and set up/tear down) was around 80 minutes.0 -
It takes me about an hour if I do all the rest times I need. If I'm in a hurry sometimes I'll do minimal rest times but then I probably will fail to get 5x5 on at least one of my lifts. It's ok though. If I'm really in a hurry it's still better to work out and need to do the same lift next time than not work out at all, IMO.0

When I started, I was done in half an hour. Now, it's 40-50 minutes per workout. Usually the time becomes self limiting at some point. You can only rest so much, and you still can't make your 5x5s for an exercise. At that point, the program has you switch to 3x5 instead, which again takes less time even with the longer rest periods. There's no specific time when this happens, but I would imagine that most people don't ever take longer than 1.5 hours, and some people never take longer than an hour. It's just going to depend on the individual and when they feel they need to progress to 3x5.0
