Looking to maybe max out at 120 pounds on squat...eventually. Haha.

  • Hi. Long time lurker, 2nd time poster.

I have this exact setup. It suits my current needs. It has its pros and cons. Pro is that it allows me to squat until I get to a weight where I feel I might need more safety then I'll have to get a different rack. My high weight squatting using this rack was 102#. Then I quit lifting when I sprained my ankle and just now getting back into SL. It can handle more than that though. One con is that you have to step forward over the bottom bar after placing bar on your back. Ideally, you should be backing out of the rack. Unless I'm doing it wrong, but I haven't figured out how to do it any other way. I wish the safety bars were a little longer. But I do feel comfortable lifting by myself using this.

I haven't used it for benching as I have another rack. When I get to heavier weights, I will have to use it. Looks like it will be fine though.

I bought a 7' standard bar (from Amazon also). It weighs 19 pounds. Works well with this rack.

    Rack is sturdy.

This is a good investment especially at $40 until you know for sure that you are going to stick with a weightlifting program and then you might want to get something a little more heavy duty.

As part of my setup, I have a couple of concrete blocks sitting in front of this and they are the perfect height for placing the bar on so I can do my deads until I get to the point where I have the larger weights on the bar.

The reviews look good. Hope this helps.

  • I don't think that's a squat rack. And quite honestly I don't know WHAT that is lol

The description says, "Multi-press rack for performing calf raises, lunges, dead lifts, and more" I don't understand how you would use this to do any of these exercises. First thing I'd be concerned about if using it to do squats is tripping over that bottom piece that goes across it.

Hmmmm. I guess when things sound too good to be true they usually are. Was hoping that was a steal for a decent rack. I'm clueless bc so far I've been working out at home so don't see the gym equipment. Thanks!!!
  • Well if you're serious about spending money on home gym equipment and don't mind not having spotter bars, some of these would be good for you.

One thing to do is start a bank account or piggy bank. If you have $30 right now, stash it for your rack fund. Do the same thing, and soon you will be able to afford a decent rack. It just might take longer than you'd like.
