Soul siesta

Is it me or does anyone else feel like everything that is considered healthy eating has nothing to do with soul food!

Probably because of all the frying oil, butter, sugar, bacon, etc that goes into really good soul food. I grew up on it, I remember my aunty keeping the big grease jar on the stove lol. I cook it myself but I know for me greens without some hamhocks or pork bones just don't have that same kick. So now maybe once a month or so, Ill incorporate real soul food because my kids mis sit too. My daughter is always asking when Ill make some homemade mac and cheese but my mac and cheese is extra heavy on cheese :-) so not really a good thing right now.

I add that really good tasting home cooked food like twice a month. It is a craving that has to be dealt with or it will lead to other not so healthy things.
