shamrock run indy results

I decided at the last minute to run this... it was fun. Lots of great costumes! Fun course. I was expecting more music along the way- but I had my headphones on anyway.

How'd you like it?

I think I'm a little more competitive than I'd like to admit. I searched through all the results to see how I placed with females 40+. I can say I'm super happy with my results! ;)

I thought the course was great, but I was a little upset with the organization.

I think the "fun runs" need to do a better job of making sure the walkers don't cluster towards the front, making it difficult to get through the crowd as a runner.

Walkers should be told to line up in the back or should have a seperate start time altogether. This was a problem at the Santa Hustle 5K as well. A themed race on or near a holiday draws a lot of casual walkers, which is great - more power to them for getting out and exercising!! - but that makes it difficult for those of us that want to get a decent time. I don't expect to PR at a fun race.....but I don't want to have an extra 3 or 4 minutes on my time either because that crowd is moving so slowly.

Yea, I did notice quite a few walkers up front. I thought they should've had speakers farther out from the start/finish line. You couldn't hear any announcements that were being made.

This was the second year we did it. We can't ever seem to leave the house early enough and we got down there right when it started and had to start at the back, but didn't really have any issues getting through the walkers. I usually run/walk but this was the first race I did more running than walking so I was happy with my result of 48 min.

    We noticed that problem too.

I enjoyed the event, and I like doing the themed/holiday races. Like I said, I'm not looking to PR at one of these. But, some organization would be good.

I had a lot of fun doing it this year! It was my 3rd year doing it and it's really grown.
