Tips for eating prior to an early morning WOD

I had to switch my normal WOD time from evening to early morning for this week due to some work training. I had my first session this morning and did not eat which definitely made a difference in the amount of energy I had. I am curious as to what others are eating before their early workouts, and how long prior to the actual exercise they eat. My worry is that if I eat too much or too close to the workout, I will be sluggish or even have to vomit during the WOD. I'm currently doing personal training sessions at my box, and my coach already warned me I need to eat prior to Wednesday's session because it's going to be intense. Any advice?

I can not eat within 2 hours of working out hard, otherwise I feel nauseous. I will usually drink a prework out drink, but no solid food or protein.
  • I also can't eat within a few hours of working out. As long as I'm working out relatively soon after I get up I don't feel tired or sluggish.

I can't eat before a work out - and as I usually train 1st thing (5.30am) it suits me fine.

I go at 6 a.m. and I have to have a little something on my stomach or else I struggle to finish the hour. Just 100 calories or so: a few cashews, a small Quaker granola bar, a piece of cheese with a couple of crackers, etc.

I'm the type of person who isn't hungry first thing in the morning, so I tend not to eat until after exercise has been done. It's made all the easier by the early start for Crossfit. I get up at 5:45 for 6:30 session and eat a high protein breakfast immediately following the WOD. There's a lot of information available on fasted training that would suggest it's not a hard and fast rule for everyone that you must eat before exercise.

My WOD is 6:30am and I only drink a pre-workout drink - Assault by MusclePharm - not that I'm advertising for them...but Mango is very good - not too sweet.

I drink Protein or take BCAAs right after and then go home to breakfast.

I don't have a problem with it. I wod at 9 am and usually have had a coffee and a bite to eat.
I know a lot of girls who do it... but they supplement with BCAAs
