P90x- Any women do 8-10 reps?

Hello!

I have been using the p90x lean program for the last 3 months or so. I haven't followed it EXACTLY since I truly cannot workout 6 days per week. I usually get in 5, sometimes 4. I skip yoga and sometimes I run instead of kenpo or cardio x because my husband and I like to run together. I always get the strength training in.

Anyway, I have switched to the classic program and am wondering about reps. So far I have been doing 12-15 and I know Tony talks about bulking up using 8-10 reps, but women don't "bulk" up. Also, programs like ChaLEAN use 6-8 reps and lift heavy and many women rave about the program and results they get. My question is... are there any ladies that have used the 8-10 model rather than 12-15?

Thanks!

I often started with a weight that I could only do 8 reps and then once I got to the point where I could do 15, it was time to up the weight.

Not a woman, but 8-10 is for stronger/tighter body. I personally think it's more rewarding to go heavier vs doing more reps, since if you can lift heavier doing more reps with a lighter weight will come naturally.

I completely agree! I don't feel like I'm getting the best workout possible when I'm shooting for 12-15 reps. Plus, like I said before...women DON'T bulk! There is not reason to try and avoid bulking up when it's not possible. Thanks!
  • I do P90X. I also started out doing more reps. I listened to Tony's advice about keeping good form but should be struggling a little with the last rep. So I upped my weights recently and I can tell a difference.

I'm doing P90X classic and will start week 11 on Monday. The very first day i did the 12-15 but changed to the 8-10 reps because of the goals I had for myself.
