Eeeep! This is scary stuff!
Workout 3 of week 2 is tomorrow
Last night was workout A:-
Squat 40kg
Pendlay Row 35kg
Bench Press 27.5kg
Tomorrow is workout B and the weights I'll be playing with will be
Squat: 42.5kg
Over Head press 22.5kg
Deadlift 50kg
OHP is probably the hardest exercise for me, started at 20kg and didn't move up until tomorrow's workout. Not because I kept failing to get all 5x5 (because I didn't... which is something!) but because I could tell that I wouldn't be able to achieve all 5x5 and actually would have been a wasted effort. But tomorrow is the day I'm going to try and up to 22.5kg and I am more than happy if I don't finish all 5x5 and have to stick there because I will go up eventually. That is the one thing I've found it hard to get my head around... being OK with failing.
I sense my first Bench Press fail ahead of me on saturday as i really struggled with 27.5kg last night.
Squats are no problemo... I've always had strong legs. Not sure what my 1RM is as when I went to discover, I just kept going up until I got to 60kg, did 3 or 4 and thought lets move on please! I was tiring my this stage and still had the whooole of SL 5x5 to go through to get starting weights.
And so the journey continues... hopefully for another 10 weeks!
I've discovered that my converse all stars are theeeeee best for squatting in.. and other lifts also!.. my running shoes have been retired for the time being!
Ahh, well. I'm going to nurse my aching back with a nice cup of tea

You are doing great! I agree about running shoes. But I workout at home and am too cheap to buy converse, so I just wear socks.0

I keep forgetting to take my cheap ol' plimsolls to the gym to do weights in. I'm used to weights in my super-supportive squishy running shoes but on the occasions I have taken the plimsolls it's been a little bit easier. As the weights get heavier, I think this will get more important...and less likely to throw my back out compensating for the squishiness!
Awesome numbers, BTW.0 -
Congrats, you're doing great! I use my ancient canvas Vans for lifting, it's so much easier than in my trainers. Although every time I'm in town I end up looking at all the pretty Converse designs... maybe a little payday treat is in store!0

I wear my old stinky Birkenstocks. Hard cork sole but still have arch support. Hubby goes barefoot or sock feet.0 -

WTG on your lifts. Those OHP are real stinkers!0 -

They really are.. will see how I get on tonight with 22.5 kg - although not holding out a lot of hope!
Thanks everyone0 -
@Judas - is your back really aching? And if so, where? I got into a skirmish with a mattress on Sunday and moved wrong and my back has not felt right since. I am super paranoid about hurting my back. Your lifts are great! OHP is my worst, as well, weight-wise. I enjoy doing them, but sometimes my arms don't want to cooperate, LOL.
@Soos - I never thought about trying to wear Birkenstocks...I have a pair in the closet. I don't like my Converse, because they are high tops and it takes me forever to get in and out of them, LOL...I'm so lazy.0 -

Update.. On Wednesday of last week I managed all 5x5 at 22.5 kg (wooo woooo!!!) attempting 25kg today, although will definitely need my spot!!
Bench press is now becoming a maaahoooosive struggle! did 30kg on saturday and it was SO hard, beginning to dislike them more than OHP!
Ah well.
@juilie - my back was aching from the pendlays rather than anything else. Although i have neck ache recently, but I think that is due to my pillows not supporting me in bed!0
