Additional calories:
UK:
Only 200kcal extra in 3rd trimester
US:
2nd Trimester: 300kcal
3rd Trimester: 450kcal
Japan:
First trimester: +50 calories
Second trimester: +250 calories
Third trimester: +450 calories
France
Minimum 2200-2500 to begin with, and a range of advice after that which actually mentions activity level!
I wonder why the UK advice is the least generous...

I always wonder about that, too. WHY does the US have such high calorie counts?
When my mother we pregnant in the 80s, they told her to only gain 15-20 pounds. Now they say 25-30 in the US.
Babies are on average 2 pounds heavier than they used to be. Why?
Seems like way too much weight gain to me in the US0 -
I'm in the second trimester (22 weeks right now) and I'm still maintaining with the odd day I go over in calories
I've gained 7 lb so far on maintenance so I don't think I'll be upping the calories any time soon.. I do relax and go over when I'm hungry though.
