Intimated, HELP!

So, I for the last week, I have been reading, "The New Rules of Lifting Supercharged: Ten All-New Muscle-Building Programs for Men and Women", and I am getting, nowhere. Very intimated...What bothers me the most, is that I won't have anyone to show me the proper techniques. I mean, the book is helping me understand how to lift correctly, but I also would like to be critiqued. I am just going to have to attempt training without the help of a trainer and hope I don't injure myself. And to be rather blunt, I am still intimated of lifting in front of men..Normally, I could care less, because, in truth, I know they can care less, but for some reason, this is bothering me....HELP!

Deep breaths.
You can learn technique through youtube and practice. With any program you start out with light weights and work on form. So if something is off you can correct it fairly easily. It's great to hire a trainer if that helps make you more comfortable, but it's not required by any means. If you'd like to be critiqued on your form you can always take a video and post it.
For me the best thing was just to get in the weight room and do it. I asked the guy at the gym how to set up the power rack, and went from there (There are even youtube videos of how to set up squat and power racks.) I think most people (including me) feel intimidated when we don't know how to do something. No one likes looking or feeling stupid. So I made sure I educated myself really well before I got in the weight room and did it.0 -
YouTube videos really helped me learn the basics of the lifts that I do on the 5x5 program. I would have been mortified, tho, to go to a gym, but I don't even like to be on the elliptical at the gym, LOL...
Do you know anyone that lifts? They might be a resource, altho, I know a lot of meatheads just go in, throw some weights around with awful form and grunt a lot prior to checking their buff out in the mirrors. (Saw that at the weight room at the Y last year, LOL...)0
