What is an ulcerative colitis diet? My doc gave me no dietary guidelines whatsoever, other than no seeds/seedy fruits.

So far, the only thing that my guts hate during a flare is pasta. OMG; talked about doubled over with pain and moaning, followed by lots of bloody discharge. Bread o.k., pasta deadly; I don't understand why. (and it's not because of the sauce; I've tried pasta with only a bit of butter and parmesan; same story)

Thanks for the invite to the group! I don't find any dietary intolerances . . . I am currently in remission and have been for about 15 months. My flares occur when I take antibiotics. I take 8 generic Colazal a day along with a probiotic.

Stress is a big trigger. Although I don't think there is a one fits all diet like say for diabetes certain foods are known to be triggers especially those that cause a natural gas like broccoli and cauliflower or beans - I have found a small amount of these items mixed in with other food items reduces the risk of a trigger but a single serving of one can. A difficult condition to monitor. It is nice to be able to share with others here.

I was just released from the hospital Friday with either a diagnosis of Ulcerative Colitis or Chrohn's. Waiting for results ... I had lost 20 lbs and became so weak that my heart rate was up to 120. I'd really like some help because other then a minimal list of what to avoid I have no clue what to eat. Taking a tapering dose of prednisone which is making me a starving lunatic! Desperate for knowledge and help.

Here's a website where you can find all kinds of helpful information; unfortunately it affects people differently. What was okay yesterday may not be today. There are certain foods known to be common triggers. You will need to pay attention to your own body. I bought a book on digestive conditions that has some information several years ago. To be honest I like this organization. Sometimes they email or mail me information about events and stuff in my local area. I hope this helps. I also read in WebMD.
