Will I pass my 3 hour???

Ok ladies. Just wondering if anyone is in my shoes... I failed my glucose test this week with a score of 207. I know the max is usually 130 to pass. Since mine was so high I am really scared of not passing the three hour test and being diagnosed with GD. Ugh. Just stressed. Thanks in advance for your thoughts on the subject and/or your stories of experience.
ps. I'm 33yrs old. Pre weight 159 current weight 175 and I will be 28 weeks tomorrow. This is my first pregnancy and I have no family history of diabetes.

These tests stressed me out too!
I failed the 1 hour at 143, then passed the 3 hour with no problem. I think my fasting draw was in the 70's and my highest draw after drinking the disgusting drink was 110-ish.
PS, I got so sick from the drink ..... They have a chair and private room they gave to me as I was trying to keep the vomit down. I'm sure you'll be fine, but just an FYI if you get sick.....that room helped a lot.
Good luck!0 -
I just wanted to say good luck!!
I had to take the 3 hour last time and barely passed. I don't get sick easily, but having to drink that sweet drink in a short amount of time really didn't feel good. Then I really just wanted to sleep.
If you do end up with GD, it usually goes away after pregnancy.0 -
The cutoff for my doctor was 140 and I got 143 on the one-hour so I had to take the 3 hour too...I was surprised that I failed the one hour as well...my pre-pregnancy BMI is 20, I've gained 18 pounds gradually and I'm at 33 weeks now, and I've exercised consistently throughout my pregnancy so I was confused too.....before I went in for the three hour though I did cut out all sweets and most processed carbs for 5 days beforehand (although I really don't think that made a difference!). A lot of women fail the one hour then get completely different results for the 3 hour. So don't worry!!0

I failed the 1 hour test at 202 with my last pregnancy, they didn't even bother having me do the 3 hour test, sent me right to the specialist. I cut out a couple things and followed their diet and lost 14 lbs in 2 weeks. When I went back for my checkup they FREAKED and told me that they must have made a mistake and that I clearly didn't have GD. Some people just don't react well to that medication that they make you take. They explained to me that if you don't eat a lot of simply sugar than your body can have a hard time processing it when you get it. I also did my test at 7am and your blood sugar is the highest in the am. I am sure you will do great!0

I failed mine in of my other pregnancies and passed the 3 hour after... don't stress there is nothing you can do.0

Agreed, there's nothing you can do. I have a friend who's due in June, and she has GD for the second time. She's a teeny tiny thing and eats really well.
I ate like crap for my first pregnancy and have been eating ok this time, both times I passed the one hour test with flying colors, but it makes sense because in general I get low blood sugar pretty easily. I have a family history of Type II diabetes, so I'm not sure how I cleared it.
No one can say if you'll pass or not, but if you don't, it is not a sign that you did something wrong or are defective in some way. I didn't "deserve" to pass for my first pregnancy, but I did, and like I said, my friend who is a very healthy person has GD for the second time.0 -

This exactly.
If you have GD, you have GD. You can't do anything about it.
And to be honest - having GD was kind of a blessing in disguise. I ate a perfect diet throughout my pregnancy and got tons of exercise, and ended up having a super healthy baby. I probably would have given in to pregnancy cravings if I wasn't diagnosed with it.
Good luck with the test!0 -
Thank you ladies! Its not that I want to 'cheat' the test or 'beat' the test. I guess I'm really just wondering if I should even bother to take the three hour test because my one hour came back with 207. Which is VERY high. I have already started the 'gd diet' just in case and the fact I can't get to the doctors until at least Wednesday of this week.
Just wondering if anyone has had such high numbers, over 200, that have passed their three hour. Thanks again!!!!!!!!!0 -
My first son, I failed my 1 hour, and passed the three hour. They made me take it a second time though because the numbers were still close. My second son, I failed the 1 hour, passed the three hour and they made me take another one hour later. Third time's a charm I guess because I passed the one hour for my third!
I don't know exactly how high my numbers were with any of them, but I know they were high enough after the first one that I was sent directly to a dietician and was told I would be starting insulin. It didn't happen, so there is hope.0 -
All of my tests were done in one day: a fasting draw when you get there in the morning, and a 1 hour followed by a 2 hour draw. If you fail any of them you are diagnosed with GD.
I think I only failed the fasting test.
I'm in Canada though, maybe the diagnostics are different here. Different doctors have different criteria, too.0 -

Yeah, the one-hour followed by the three-hour (if needed) is pretty typical here in the US. There's been some talk of skipping the one-hour altogether. Because many women fail it and then pass the three-hour, which is just torture to put someone through multiple tests, there's a line of thinking that giving everyone a two-hour one would be better for all.0 -

I just moved to Canada a week ago and completed my testing in the US before moving here. My midwife in Canada predicted I would fail the 1 hour as its unreliable and she was right. I won't do the 1 hour again (if I get pregnant again). I have a friend in the US who's OB only does 2 hour and then 3 hour so maybe some docs are moving in that direction.0 -
OHHHH PS. My results came back NORMAL. What a stupid test!0
