PSYCH MEDS THAT CAUSE HYPERGLYCEMIA

I'm having a hard time getting my blood sugars under control because of medications I'm taking for Bipolar Disorder: namely, Navane and Prozac. I am counting every single solitary carb that passes my lips and staying within (and often under) the allotted daily carb limit. Don't know what to do. Anyone out there have this problem? Anyone know what to do about it?

I have not been on those meds so I can't answer your question. But I can say those seem like common side effects. Have you been able to talk to your psych about it? If it gets too high you'll need to switch meds.

i take serequoel and its made me prediabetic. i'm watching what i eat, and losing weight as best i can, so i can manage it better. its a trade off. the drug is working really well for me, i would take more of it if i could but i dont want to be full blown diabetic. i could do better about managing it. but my levels haven't increased in the last 6mos. now i just need to do more to make the levels go down.

sometimes the side effects of the meds are bad. you have to weigh the risk reward. for me, its worth it.
