Protein, how much?

Does anyone now how much protein we are suppose to have? I have had celiac for 2 1/2 years and i keep track of my protein and i am over but i don't know if I am over enough. Right now my protein is set at 53 and i am usually over by 17 or less. I know i was told that since i have celiac that i need a lot of protein but not sure how much, does anyone now? Any info is greatly appreciated.

    I wouldn't worry about going over. If you don't need the extra 17 grams, your body can use it for energy. And if you do need it, then you're better off having it. MFP sets the protein requirement pretty low, definitely too low for people who exercise heavily. It might be right for people who are exercising moderately.

    Also, if your little microvilli are still rebuilding themselves, pamper them with protein. Body builders eat amounts like 2 grams for every pound of lean mass they have, and don't seem to suffer for it. I aim for 100 grams a day.
