When I ran my first Spartan (a Beast no less!!!) I was still about 30 lbs heavier than I am today. I was well on my way to being fit, but still a long way to go. I finished near last in my age group but I finished.
Fast forward to last week. I've reached my goal weight and I exercise a lot. I am in the best shape of my life. I ran the Carolina Spartan Sprint with a team and boy what a difference! I came in 62 for my age group out of nearly 500! Our team was in the top 50 and my time was one of the top 4 on the team that counted toward our official time. I still ended up doing more burpees than I wanted, but that had a lot more to do with the constant rain and everything on the course being covered in slick mud. My next race is the Super in Virginia and it will complete my Trifecta. I hope to dip down in to the top 50 for my age group.
