Squats

I've been doing regular (dumbbell) squats and having a hard time with them due to tight calves. I have been using plates to place my heels on to get down to parallel, which is otherwise impossible for me. Today however I tried Bulgarian Split Squats instead: I love them! I seem to have much less trouble with these then with the regular ones. And boy do I feel the burn!
The downside is of course that it is a single leg exercise and therefor takes twice as long to train both legs. Think that it is worth it for me though.
What is your favourite squat exercise?

I haven't tried the Bulgarians yet, but I might eventually need to once it gets too hard to lug around sufficiently heavy dumbbells. Right now I find squats challenging. I have really long legs and long thighs, and I've heard that this is not ideal for doing squats generally (leverage and all that physics jazz) :grumble: (BUT it makes DL easier, so there's that - the DL is my fave!)0

As far as favourites go it's a tie between deadlifts and rows for me.
For the BSS I used exactly the same weight I have been using for the regular squats. They were hard, also because of some balancing going on, but at the same time they felt much less awkward then the regular squats. And I felt it more in my quads!0
