All of you may do this already. I saw it on Facebook/ backyard homesteaders. If you buy hearts of romaine lettuce, as I do, you can put the bottom part that you cut off in a glass jar with about an inch of water and it will almost immediately start to grow new leaves. If I knew how to post a picture on here I could show you how much mine grew in one day. Almost an inch of new leaves. Awesome!

    My Mom gives me the outer leaves and the bottoms of her Romaine all the time. I'm going to have to give that a try! Thanks!
