Crunchy Knees

Hi everyone - I'm looking at starting 5x5's so I've just been trying to do the movements at home without any weight - just to try to get the form down. I've noticed with the squats, I'm hearing "crunchy knees." I know when I was running, my aches and pains went away (almost like I was lubing everything and they worked better  ). I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with the crunchy-ness going away or if maybe I need to adjust something.

I definitely have crunchy knees but for me it's just the noise than pain. I find it happens if I'm walking up stairs and stuff too, not just squats! That noise is awful!

I have ghastly crunchy knees (especially the left, which is the one that won't let me run..) and the physio said that was there for life :(

as long as there isn't pain associated, it's just nasty sound!

My knees sound like sand crunching or snow crunching as I go up and down...it sounds awful, but does not hurt. I think as they wear and you get older, this is pretty much normal or average...as long as there is no pain or swelling, then you should be fine like the rest of us crunchy kneed peeps...

I don't have crunchy knees but I do have popping shoulders especially when I do OHP. Sounds like some explosive bubble wrap. My poor child had thought I had hurt myself the first time he ever seen me do my OHP from all the popping and cracking. But I have had a broken clavicle, a dislocated shoulder and a shoulder decompression surgery(not all at the same time thank goodness!) which could explain some of my problem and my weakness upstairs. Hasn't caused me any pain, but the sound is awful. Thankfully my knees are still in pretty decent shape.

I say if there is no pain or swelling, invest in some ear plugs and lift away!

Thanks, that's what I was hoping to hear (or not, depending on whether I can get my *kitten* motivated or not! )
