Weekend routine

So, I need some input on this! During the week I rock my diet and exercise every day, I drink enough water, I eat well, and all is good! But then the weekend comes around and I feel completely off my game! Either I struggle to get out and get my cardio or strength training for the day, I drink a lot less water, or slip up on my diet. Is it just me that has this weekend struggle? or is it a common thing? I'm not even talking about going out with friends...just a routine day doing things around the house even.
I hate the thought that going to work and doing my daily routine is good for me! lol!

This is me to a tee... back in the good weight loss days of Kim's plan, I would eat a bit less on the weekdays, I wouldn't eat back any exercise calories and I would splurge on Friday... I lost all my weight doing this becuase on a weekly perspective my numbers balanced out... problem is, it got fun and it moved to Friday/Saturday.... and well you know the rest is history, I ain't doing so *kitten* hot lately...
So I would suggest one of two things..
Do as I did above, adjust things daily to give yourself that splurge day to have your cravings...
or two, set up a weekend routine (like your daily work routine) so that you have something cememted to stick too... It's the loss in structure I assume that is messing you up..... so make some structure? I know it's hard... struggling here too.0 -
I'm the same way. I work overnights so I'm naturally more tired and it takes my body a few days to recover from overnights where I'm tired all the time. Friday day I slept 8 AM - 4 PM and can you believe I went to bed again at 11 PM-8 AM and slept through the whole night?? I'm always tired, it's practically not a big deal anymore, it sucks.
Anyway, so when I have a day off I tend to like to relax. Sometimes I catch myself mindlessly snacking. If you can, I suggest getting out, not necessarily doing cardio but just getting out and doing something, whether is it walking around Target or going to the library or something. Just getting out is the biggest step, at least for me. Maybe once you're out you'll feel the urge to hit the gym.
I also suggest investing in a Hulu account and only allowing yourself to watch a certain show on your phone or tablet when you're at the gym. Knowing there's a new episode of Grey's Anatomy on Hulu makes me want to hit the gym.0 -
Same problem here. I completely get off my game on weekends. Mon. thru Fri. I have my routine down... work - gym - home. Fridays I sometimes stray, Weekend hits I cant stand sitting at home by myself and doing nothing. Odd I have nothing to do, yet I can't make it to the gym one mile away! I usually meet up with friends who have no idea what a calorie is and I go with the flow. (basically means lots of beer) Having a good friend as a bartender doesn't help. Soooooo for this next weekend I'm going to stay home and...... yea whatever! Wash rinse repeat. I sometimes hate myself.0

I work overnights like christine24t does and I did struggle in the past with being tired all the time. For me it was a combination of the diabetes I had, my blood sugars being completely out of whack, and still trying to figure out a sleeping routine so I barely made it to the gym. Now, I go 5-6x a week and I don't have issues with the weekend like most people. Why? Because I'm legen.....wait for it.....wait for it...
I work Wed through Mon 11pm-7am and I am pretty good with my diet during the work week. I pack my lunch and go. My weekend falls on Mon & Tues which is a bit of a blessing in disguise. It sucks for a social life, but it makes staying on track easier. All of my friends have the typical Mon-Fri work week with Sat and Sun weekend, so I can't join them in the drinking and eating fun. The Mon and Tues I have off, I do go out, but rarely do since my friends have to work and can't stay out late and I hate going out by myself most of the time.
I have a few friends that do the Hulu/Netflix thing while on a treadmill or elliptical. It's not for me. I find those things tediously boring for cardio. When I do go jogging, I'd rather go outside even in crappy rain/snowy weather than be on a treadmill. I also do a variety fitness classes for my cardio and lift heavy things up and down. Nothing is boring to me and I look forward to it all. I get sad when I miss a day because of life like laundry day or having to go grocery shopping. On days I go to the gym, I always go right after work. It's nice having a work schedule like this. Mornings at my gym it isn't crowded, plus, where I work there isn't a strict dress code enforced, as long as you don't show up naked. I'll come into work already wearing my workout clothes for the day. After the gym, I'll shower and change there. I find working out wakes me up for a few hours but as soon as I hit the pillow, I am out.
Diet wise I am no angel. I have good and bad things. The only restriction I have is soda pop. I don't drink that anymore. I also do a Intermittent Fasting type of a deal. Majority of the time I consume all my calories in 1-2 meals, usually at work. I found with my work and sleep schedule, this works for me. It's not for everyone. I tried the multiple 4-6 small meals thing and it messed up my sleeping habits. I tried the broken up sleep in chunks too, it doesn't work for me either. I go to bed around 2-3pm and wake up at 10:30pm, though I do flip back to days when I am off. I'll sleep 10-14 hrs on my flip day and I find it helps me feel refreshed.
Wow, so I rambled on. XD Tips...tips..well somethings I used to do to motivate and help me.
1) Brush, floss your teeth after you are done eating for the day. I found when I did that, it help me in resisting the urge to snack later on.
2) Go to bed wearing your workout clothes. It seems silly, but on my days off, I'd wake up in the morning and see I was already dressed to go kick @$$ at the gym, so I would.
3) Save your calories for the weekend. I splurge and have days I go over my calories but I plan for it. I also work out the day before to have the extra room, calorie wise.0 -
My 'weekend workouts' tend to be house cleaning related.
For example - today I unpacked and defrosted a freezer and then organized and repacked it. I scrubbed all of my kitchen counters, did two loads of dishes and cleaned the cabinets that held those dishes. My upper back, shoulders, and biceps are sore.0
