How long do your rest between sets?

I did session 14 this morning. I have some background in lifting and I've moved up at the recommended weights since I started. Most stuff felt pretty light for the first couple weeks, but now everything's getting H-E-A-V-Y! I'm still resting about 1 1/2 minutes between squats and bench press, but for OHP and rows I need longer. I do close to 3 minutes for those, and took 5 minutes between my last two sets of OHP today. I was liking that the workout took about 40 minutes, but I can tell I'm going to have to allot more time pretty soon.

As long as it takes, and I try to not wait too long because then I run late for work. The clocks in the gym aren't in a place where they can really be seen in the squat rack. I look at one backwards in the mirror, but it's too early in the morning to attempt to try and time myself by looking at the opposite of a clock. My guess would be somewhere between 2-5 minutes depending on the lifts.0

I do between 2-4 minutes. Luckily, my gym has their own cc tv channel with a digital clock with seconds. They usually have 3-4 tvs on that station so they're pretty visible wherever you are. Makes it so much easier to time everything.0

3-5 minutes unless I've deloaded an exercise. Then usually 2 or so. I use a timer app on my phone otherwise I try to lift too early and get mad it feels so much heavier. :sad:0

five minutes has become the norm.0

I have the same issue with OHP - I had to go 4 minutes between sets this morning. I use the Stronglifts app, and it has a timer built in.0

What do you guys do during rest time? I just kinda pace the area and get so bored, I just want to get on to the next set only rest about a minute, longest rest has probably only been 1.5 minutes.0

For a while I just catch my breath. On my harder lifts (OHP, pendlay rows), I will sometimes check my digital copy of SS to remind myself about form. I spend the last 45 seconds or so with my eyes closed visualizing every rep in the next set, from start to finish. Works for me, but probably not for everybody.0

Ha, I just internally laugh at people doing stupid things in the gym. Perhaps I should worry more about if I'm having bad form or not...0 -
Hm. I don't time rests but use my hrm to see when I'm back down to a sensible rate, give it another 30 seconds or so if still feel tired.Maybe iI should be timing more. Also hate waiting when I know there is a queue. Too darned polite!0

Oh, not to worry, I spend a little bit of time doing the internal giggle myself. . .and today I spent way too much time being inordinately jealous of the amazing woman doing chin up after chin up, totally unassisted, on the rack next to me. Someday. . .0 -

I do both the internal laughs and the bit of envy of the heavy lifters. More often though it is the giggling. For going to a small gym I see people do the oddest things.
I've started adding time to my rests since I'm in my heavier weights. I'm probably 1.5-3 min at most right now.0
