Can you "purge" gluten from your system?

If you have a lapse in judgement and eat a piece of cake or a cookie, or half a loaf of french bread or you accidentally gluten yourself, is there a way to "cleanse" or "purge" it from your system?

I do not have Celiac but I do have Hashi's and other issues which make eating anything starchy and all things gluten containing a bad idea. I don't go into a coma or anything but I am in a lot more pain than normal when I eat it. Well, my stupidity got the better of me and I ate a churro at my daughter's ball game last night. I can feel it today... bloated, more painful joints and muscles, just not feeling good. Is there any way to speed along the process of getting it out of your system?

There are two different issues at play here. 1. the inability to digest and 2. the systemic reaction that may or may not occur.

I have CD so I'm hit with both. Most of the time when I'm glutened the MAJOR digestive symptoms (gas, bloating, running to the potty, etc) only last as long as it takes for the food to physically leave my system. However, I still feel off for a few days after. It can take weeks for gluten to entirely leave your system. The systemic/AI reaction is the dangerous part for me.

ETA: I don't think there's anything you can do to speed along the process. For the digestive issues I just make sure I drink a ton of water to flush that system and I stick to pretty basic foods for a bit after.

the only way to clear the body of gluten is to completely avoid it in every way even small traces of contamination builds up and i find myself ill after a while which tell me avoidence is the only way to be including the cleaning of surfaces etc to stop contamination.

I would think that unless you threw it up almost immediatly after eating it, you're out of luck. I don't think there is any way to purge it from your system the next day or to speed things along. But is a good lesson! Next time you crave a Churro remember how you feel right now....

Sorry you're feeling rough today :(
