Team black where you at?! I'm Christy and am in to play this game. Weekly challenges seem scary (given my current workout schedule and existing challenges I've taken on) but we'll see how it goes ;)

So getting lesson from last challenge to keep us motiated we have begun our 20 week challenge(counting this 0 week).

For many of us, this is a clean slate of getting back on track! For the WEEK O challenge, I thought we might take it BACK TO BASICS! Let's take this week to focus on drinking water and cooking ! I know that this is not the easiest thing for all of us to do .

Actually any weight that I lose during this challenge is great with me. I'm losing the battle with the scale but I'm winning the war with the tape measure. Let's get our challenge on peeps!

Jamie, I got my MRI results Friday. I have bone spurs in my neck that are pressing down on the nerves coming out of my spine heading for my fingers, on both sides of my neck. The problem isn't going to go away for quite a while, if ever, but she is going to try to relieve some of the pain. She told me I can go back to kickboxing and all the rest as long as it doesn't aggreviate it more. SO, I'm back in my workouts. YEAH!!!

Yeah! That's awesome that you're back to working out! Sorry to hear about the bone spurrs though. They can't be fun.

I only did 35 squats yesterday, but I did get 30 minutes of biking in the morning and an additional 40 minutes of various exercises in the evening. I'll make up for the squats today. A trick I have been using for a while is to do 10 squats before I sit down to go potty and as soon as I finish 10 more. The boss doen't notice that extra 2 minutes and it perks me up during the day. For some reason, that little bit of work during the day wakes me up and keeps me going.

That is a brilliant idea Pam!

I have done 50 squats today (didn't manage any more yesterday) and I walked the dog for about half an hour.

Hope you are all having a great Tuesday x

hi - i'm katie. i live in the mountains of colorado & we've gotten more snow these past few days than i think i've seen all winter. i've been quiet because i'm a bit stressed about my living situation - i need to find a new place to live & am running out of time, there are options yet so many balls in the air right now that it's throwing me off. still trying to keep up with eating well, although yesterday i wanted comfort food so i had it, and trying to get back to drinking my normal amount of water. i'm getting there.

yesterday i walked for 30 minutes and other than that haven't gotten much exercise in - my trainer's gone for a few weeks due to a death in the family so my options are limited right now... & i'm just not self motivated enough right now to do DVDs, etc. i'll get back to it at some point. & will try to get in some squats today. have a great day!

Rode the bike again this morning for 30 minutes, did some weight training as well. After work I went to the other gym for kickboxing and calisthentics. I had completed 50 squats at work but added another 80 during kickboxing class.

I forget to tell you guys about my water habits. I drink 20 ounces before I leave the house each morning. I take another 20 ounces bottle with me to the gym in the morning, which I finish before I go to my desk. I have a 32 ounce mug at my desk that I drink at least one of daily and usually 2 fills. I take another 20 ounce bottle to the second gym, which I finish with my dinner after I get home. So on any given day I get at least 92 ounces of water and usually 124 ounces.

    Hi guys

I have a quick water question, how much should we be aiming to drink?

I always drink 1ltr of plain water a day plus herbal and green teas, coffee and one sugar free coke. Plus extra water during work outs.

    (I think 1ltr is roughly 35 ozs)

    talk to you all later

8 cups sounds about right. i drink approx. 3 cups of water with lunch and dinner, then 2-3 cups with my workout so without even knowing it, I am completing the challenge! ;)

i'm trying to remember what i've heard about water - i think it's that you should drink about half your body weight in water (ounces) per day & more if you're exercising; so if i go according to that i should be drinking at least 80 ounces of water a day (i currently weigh just under 160 lbs) before i add in exercise (& then more than that, if i'm exercising that day), if that helps anyone out. & generally, i try to drink around 100 ounces a day of straight water (not counting tea).

Yay squats are done! and I'm averaging 2 litres of water/herbal tea a day.

My 7 yr old now wants to complicate my squats by getting me to do them with her on my back, not sure I'll be able to do 50 in one go tho.

Hope you all have a good weekend :drinker:

Hi everyone! I'm in a bit of a funk right now but I do believe that I am no longer the only one in the family trying to get healthy so that helps out a lot. Just fit my mom and dad up with pedometers!

Ready for this challenge to begin! I promise to be more on top of reminders from now on ;)

    Hi Lovelies

I am so pleased with your efforts I hope you will like this week's challenges .

This is our first official week !!!! It is supposed to be still an introduction, so have fun and get healthy!

There is lbs reward for each part of this challenge

    Exercise max 7 lbs

    1. 4 days out of 7 of 30-45 min cardio or strength exercise sessions to be spread out during the week as it suits you best!

sessions of jogging, fast walking, cross-trainer or treadmill,Zumba, Aerobics, Dance, DVD , Gym etc.
    (moderate cleaning doesn't count ;) !!! )

1 lbs advantage for everyone who succeed to do 4 sessions!!!

    2. Try something new or something you didn't do for a while - independent exercise of your choice for 30 min session at least!!! : mine for example will be trying to go to work on bike. - I would not mind to go home from work but to get there is 90% uphill!!!

If you lack inspiration, you can try swimming, clubbing (DANCING!!!), another class at your local gym, or that new DVD , take tennis rackets and go play tennis with kids in park ... or football ... I found out trampoline extremely hard :-)

1 lbs advantage for everyone who succeed

    3. Best Butt Exercises For Women: Squats

Squats are one of the best butt exercises you can do to build a nice round booty and sexy legs. Make sure you keep your abs tight, back straight, weight on heels, and sit your butt back.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSYv5lQo4yM
    can you make at least 350 a week ? E.G. 50 +60+70 +day rest +50 +60 +70
1 lbs advantage for everyone who succeed 2 lbs for most squads

    4. Don't forget to take a day rest! Your body needs it.

    5. For the WEEK ONE FOOD challenge, I thought we might still keep it BASICS! Let's take this week to focus on fish and cooking fish - let other inspire you with their recipe ! I know that this is not popular choice but girls (as far as I know we don't have a man in our challenge) come on it is good for us - and for mums especially we need to introduce fish into our kids diet - and I am not talking about fish fingers ;) .... girls all fish counts and vegetarians try Sea Vegetables. Try to eat fish 2x a week. (1 lbs advantage if you manage to eat 2 portions of fish)

Keep drinking water - even if it is not our topic!!! I hope you picked up some good tips.

    cooking challenge
Also, I will be doing Cooking Challenge for week 0. It will run from today april 21th - april 28th . I need the pictures and recipe of 1 dish you were cooking this week for yourself . I will be judging on healthiness, calorie amount and presentation . It can be idea for lunch (pack lunch) , dinner , breakfast or even Snack!!!

You must send picture + recipe here http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/965956-place-to-share-fish-recipes-1st-week-cooking-challenge The requirement this week is you must have fish in this meal.

Best recipe will get 2 lbs advantage for week 2 weigh in and everyone who post recipe will get 1lbs

    To sum it
4/7 sessions of exercise 1lbs advantage
1 session of something new - let us know what - 1lbs advantage
350 squats - 1 lbs for the everyone who manage to do 350 squats an extra 1 lbs for 1 person with most squats
2 dishes with fish - 1 lbs advantage
recipe - 1 lbs for everyone who post recipe extra 1 lbs for best recipe

    Happy Monday everyone,

I've been a bit awol but am back with a vengeance now! Today is a bit of a busy one for me, I have to do both school runs (which will put my fitbit close to the 10000 steps mark) plus off to the gym/pool with some friends (this is more of a social than serious fitness, but everybit helps)

I have also discovered that doing squats and lunges around my dog sends her a bit loopy so may have to lock her in another room when I decide to do the rest of todays quota.

Hope you all have a good week
    Jen xx
