SERIOUSLY???

I just had to make this entry in a medical record: Spoke to O - Unclear whether or not there has been a specific incident this concern is about. Adv O that if a female has been recently spayed that there is significant risk of internal bleeding with this type of incident. If the female has been spayed for several months or more, the risk depends on the size of the female, the size of the male, the depth of penetration, the aggressiveness of the breeding, and the placement of the stitches within the cervix or uterine body at the time of spay. If there is concern, the dog should be examined by a vet. JC

The woman called half an hour before closing to ask if a spayed female could die if she gets bred.

This same woman actually brought her dog in to see me less than two months ago because it was being raped by her cat. If I get one more of these calls from her, I'm contacting the men in the white coats with the butterfly nets.

The AVMA shouldn't be able to give you flak for poor medical record keeping! Very thorough explanation!!
I once had to explain to a "cattleman" that his cow had indeed given birth because she had prolapsed her uterus- he was convinced that she was still in calf!! I thought I was on candid camera as I explained to him that when the uterus was outside of the cow's body that the calf definitely was too!

I hate those candid camera moments. When you're just standing there and the only thought in your brain is, "how do I answer this without making at least one of us look like an idiot?"

One and a half year old pitbull in to neuter this morning. Came in with a muzzle on acting very aggressively toward any moving object in sight. Asked the owner if he was always this aggressive. Owner said he wasn't aggressive- he just put the muzzle on to make other people feel better. Once again- SERIOUSLY?!

Yup. We have a couple like that. The aggressive police dogs are the best. We've got one of those that I had to put the muzzle back on seconds after extubating and just pray that he didn't vomit. Or recover before I got the second buckle fastened.
