At 61 days out, I wouldn't worry too much about the calorie goal just yet. Just focus on getting in that protein and water. Also make sure you are taking your supplements. The calories will come a bit later. Good luck!0

I don't really understand. Why do you have to balance your intake vs your goal? A goal is just that -- a theoretical number. It's nice to reach goals, but I think it is crucial to track your actual intake. Most of us ended up with surgery because we were eating far more than we thought we were. When you see the actual amount of food you have consumed in a day, it becomes much easier to stop yourself from eating more. And even if it is not a matter of eating more or less overall, it's the best way of making sure you are getting the right amount of protein and other nutrients.
I think you will find it much easier to accomplish your larger goals if you keep very close track of your food intake, and your exercise. Nutritionists and dieticians overwhelmingly say that patients sabotage their weight loss by not tracking their intake.0 -
I don't recall being able to even come close to my calorie goal at 61 days out. I think my goal was 800 and I was doing great if I got 500 in. As you get a bit further out, maybe. And as grim said it is very important to track what we put in--it's a matter of being accountable and often looking back and realizing how we can improve. I don't worry a lot about meeting that calorie goal--I have only gone over it once, I think. As I said in my previous post, it really helps to keep count on that protein and the other macros. I find that going over on my sodium affects the way I feel. As you log in your diary, you will see the difference in the choices you make. Once you start, it will become habit and can really be a useful tool for a successful outcome.0

Please log everything that goes in your mouth. It not only helps you stay on track, but it can also help your nutritionist or doctor if you should develop any problems. Eight months post-op and I still have difficulty hitting my calorie goal. It is normal. Hang in there!0
