Hi all
So I've been progressing really well on my deads, 75kg x 5 yesterday.
The only issue now is that im losing grip at maybe rep 3 from one of two things:-
1) sweaty palms - my gym has seemingly turned the aircon up a degree or so because there was a lot of static
2) it's just getting to heavy for my fingers to keep gripping!
I prefer a mixed grip to overhand which helps to a point.
My gym doesn't allow chalk
I've got some gorilla grips in the smallest size but they cut into my fingers because theyre still a but big.
Do any of you use gloves to aid with grip and, if so, can you recommend any?
Thanks in advance
A x

Are you allowed ecochalk or liquid chalk? It's less dusty - allegedly - than regular chalk.
I do use gloves but for callouses rather than grip: I just dug out my fingerless cycling gloves, which have a nice lump of padding across the palm right where I get callouses.0 -

That's what i bought the gorilla grips for.. but meh! They are painful!
I don't think so... i've not seen anyone else use any kind of chalk but I might ask.
thanks0 -
I don’t like callouses on my hands, so when I got the new bar (with the rough grip area), I picked up a pair of cheapie “gold’s gym” lifting gloves at Walmart that have helped keep the callouses at bay, and I don’t have any problem with grip.0

I use a $15 pair of black ladies gloves that I got at Play It Again Sports.
Loves them.
Also, as far as grip strength ... I have spring loader ends for my plates, and I make it a point to use my left hand for the left side, and my right hand for the right side when I put them on and take them off. My left hand was SO weak at the beginning but it's starting to catch up. Maybe that'll help you too.0 -

Dani, that’s what I do, too…alternate hands for the spring loader-thingie. I did, however, get some longer ones because the short ones that came with the bar are SO hard to manipulate, and I got as much of a workout from them as I did from the actual lift, LOL...0 -
I've used gloves as long as I've been lifting. I have an old pair of Nike gloves that I use. I've never experienced any grip issues using gloves.0
