Mountain biking a new trail

I took my bike out to check out a new trail in my area & WOW it was much more technical & in general "over my head!" I managed to keep the rubber down but it was steeper, rockier & contained a few hairpin turns. My experience befor was pretty tame compared to this. I realized a couple of things, I need more upper body strength & really all over strength. I wimped out & walked parts more than once but it was 6 1/2 miles of pure adrenlin. Can't wait to do it again!

I love/hate rides like that. Hate the surprises, but, after I'm done I have the same reaction you did: "Let's do it again!"

    Sounds exciting.

I'd suggest getting a book of trails in your area that gives ratings. It helped me a ton when I was first starting to know where I should and shouldn't go. It sucks to end up on a trail way above your skill level and have to walk so much.

Also, look for a skills clinic in your area. I just took one last week.

I would love to do the group ride( had a buddy that day) but I work crazy hours so haven't been able to so far. The trail I was on is only a week or so old, but the rest of it is fairly tame. The only thing I know to do is hit it again till I'm up to par.
