Crossfit Hands

I'm a real newbie to Crossfit (just 3 weeks) and relatively new to barbell work. The past few workouts have included barbell work and toes 2 bar (for me it's knees to waist). My body is adjusting with minor soreness, my hands ARE NOT! My hands are the only reason I had to take breaks during T2B today. I'm developing blisters at the base of my middle and ring fingers on both hands. Any tips? Will it get better as my hands get tougher?:

It will get better. There is a thread related to this. See calluses from oly lifting, it is only a couple down on the list. This will give you some more insight to peoples remedies and preferences.

Thanks! I'll jump on over there now.

Your hands will get tougher and you will learn to embrace your callouses. I always make sure I take my rings off before a WOD though.

As other posters have said, your hands will adapt and removing rings is a big help, but also you need to ensure you take care of your hands. When the callouses get large or painful, it's time to file them down. I usually do callous removal and a full hand care regime once a week and moisturize often.
  • When I was new to CF someone showed me this video about hand care. If you can get past Donny Shankle's voice, his tips are right on the money. The taping technique he shows works very well and only takes a minute or two once you have done it a bunch of times. My wife and I now keep a callous remover in our shower and bath tub and hit the hands everyday.
