Hey everyone, so I just recently found out I was pregnant and then thought I was going to have a miscarriage only to find out the doctor had the dates wrong so I went to my regular ob yesterday and she said everything is great with the baby yay!!!!!! My question is, has anyone ever had bleeding after a pelvic exam/pap smear? I know I've heard that you can have spotting but I've been having bright red blood it's not a whole lot like a period but it's more than spotting, so have any of you had the same problem? I know everything is ok with the baby I would just like to know if anyone else has experienced this so I can relax and ease my mind. Thanks!!

Oh yes, this has happened to me several times...do not worry about it. Also, you might be the area might be sensitive because of the bambino - so CONGRATULATIONS ON THE BLESSING!!!

Hi, Congratulations. I had bleeding like that with this pregnancy due to a blood clot at the site where the baby implanted. It took a few weeks but eventually it all bleed out or dissolved. It wasn't dangerous, just annoying to get worried everytime it happened. Could also be bleeding from the cervix if it is sensitive.

My doctor told me as soon as he did the pap not to freak out that I was already spotting. He explained that the cervix is very sensitive in early pregnancy and is very easily irritated. He said also after sex not to be surprised if this happened. I had some bleeding before that though, more than spotting and it was a subchorionic hemorrhage. This did resolve on it's own though so wasn't a problem but was super scary at the time!
