REMINDER! Official Start - 4/21/2013 - Weigh In

This is just a reminder that our 20/75 plan starts on Sunday, 4/21/2013. Here is what you will need to be prepared with:

1. Your starting weight. Please choose a time to weigh yourself, and use that time going forward every Sunday.
2. Your Measurements. You may choose some of these or all of these, but whatever you choose you will need to measure every week going forward. Bust, Chest, Waist, Hips, Thighs, Calves, Upper Arm, Forearm, Neck. All you need is measuring tape. If you dont have one, you can find them at a local pharmacy, Walmart or online.
3. *Optional* If you really want to take the gold, you can also get a body fat tester.

Amazon sells a fairly inexpensive measure tape and body fat tester here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002VAPHXW/ref=s9_simh_gw_p364_d0_i2?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0NKE3R3C9GFW4AQV7N42&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1389517282&pf_rd_i=507846

Here is a great article on how to do your measurements. http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/fitness_articles.asp?id=1281

4. **Modified 4/20/2013** Your Starting Body Fat Percentage: http://www.healthcentral.com/cholesterol/home-body-fat-test-2774-143.html. We will not track this again until our last day of the plan. You can choose to disclose this or not, but at the very least you should have the information for yourself.

5. Optional - A starting picture. You can choose to email that to lose20in75@gmail.com to be posted on our photo forum, and we can visually track your results every week. Nothing more rewarding then seeing the changes.

That is it!

Stay tuned for Sunday, 4/21/2013 when we weigh in. Good Luck!

    Hi missharleychi-

i was just reading everything that we need in prep for Sunday's first weigh in and had a suggestion. Another option over BMI is body fat percentage. I've been using this website http://www.healthcentral.com/cholesterol/home-body-fat-test-2774-143.html. I think its a bit more accurate over traditional BMI calculators that only rely on height and weight. I have a few friends that are into heavy strength training and they find it funny that while their BF% is well below average range when they use a traditional BMI calculator they show up as overweight.

It was just a thought since we will be taking out measurements anyway.

    So excited!

Does anyone use Wii Fit here? I was just wondering how accurate the scale is.

    Hi Lena!

What great feedback. Our group is only made better by suggestions like the one you provided. I checked it out and it makes sense. I will modify our weigh in measurements with what you provided. Thank you very much!!!!

The Wii Fit scale is accurate as long as it's on a flat, hard surface. I would put it either on a hard surface or very thin rug only. I also found when I put a cover on mine (it was one of the thicker padded ones) that threw off my weight by quite a bit so I stopped using the cover.
