Yes, unfortunately this seems the case. When pregnant and limiting my protein intake much more than usual (my meat-free but casual life-style), I found myself indulging on free foods... Starbursts, frosting, and allowing as much butter on my low pro bread as I wanted. Of course there are the healthy go-to's... apples and pickles. Around week 11 of my first pregnancy I recall posting on Facebook, "If I eat another apple, I may turn into one."

Other than the apples and pickles, are there any foods that are almost free foods for both PKU and dieting?
