Hi,

I would like to start this program but am not sure how to do the exercises properly. Do you think its worth hiring a PT for a few hours to show me the exercises?

  • Personally I wouldn't recommend hiring any Personal Trainer unless for sure they know what you are trying to accomplish and actually know proper lifting technique. Although you can research everything yourself. Mark Rippetoe has an EXCELLENT book out called Starting Strength: Basic Barbell Training 3rd Edition which explains in detail how to properly do every important lift. It may be available at your library. There are lots of videos out too that you can look at.

What Amazing said. If you google "Rippetoe form squats" (or bench press, ohp, deadlift, etc.), you will be sure to find what you need. For the Pendlay Rows, google Pendlay Row form, and you should find a link from the Stronglifts site of Pendlay himself teaching the form.
