Proverbs 27:2 (NIV)

"Let someone else praise you, and not your own mouth; an outsider, and not your own lips."

As a coach, you can only imagine the things I hear from athletes praising themselves on how good they are, when, in fact, they are only average at best. Don't get me wrong, confidence is a good thing in athletics, but without a little humility, troubles will arise eventually, either in their work ethic, teamwork or somewhere else down the line.

My favorite phrase to student-athletes who speak so highly of themselves on the playing field: "Don't TELL me, SHOW me!" or this one: "Let your enemies FEAR you, not HEAR you!"

Have a blessed Wednesday and Keep The Faith!
