I decided to read up on on Luke, as a person. I have read about him before, but it's been a few years. I like to get to know the author when I am read a book study in the Bible.
Things I already knew:
-traveled with Paul
-a physician ( well educated)
-not an eyewitness to Jesus
-wrote Acts (though there a teeny bit of debate on that I guess, but I don't see where they are coming from with that)
-a gentile
-did a lot of the writing for Paul. Transcribed for Paul
Things I did not know:
- the ONLY gentile writer in the New Testament. Guess I never really thought about it.
-he wrote as many or more words than Paul (the count is slightly different from Hebrew to greek and I guess Paul wrote a lot in Hebrew that Luke translated to Greek.)
So, maybe if you have time today do a Google search on Luke, read a few different sites.
