Is anyone going to the Long Island Who Con in November? Living in upstate NY, I've never had the opportunity to attend a con before. The closest I get is watching San Diego Comic Con every year on G4.

Never done cosplay (mostly because I am the lone geek in my circle of friends, I guess more of an inner geek than an outer geek). My daughters (6 and 8) would love to go and have all of us dress up. It's at least remotely close by, so it's a possibility. My eldest wants to be a Weeping Angel. She desperately wants me to be Ood Sigma. (Thanks, honey, Mommy appreciates that, really.) My husband is built like 10 and has similar features, so he could easily pull that costume off. If I could drop some decent weight by November I might be able to pull off a Rose. With an Ood head? Haha. :noway:

Still, having never done it before, the whole thing is kind of intimidating! People do some amazing work on costumes. I just don't think I have the time (or ability) to go super awesome. But maybe I could pull enough of something together to make it work. I'd really like to go and take my daughters. I love that they are into anything and everything geeky and they don't care what anyone else thinks of it. So I want to keep encouraging that spirit of individuality and especially the confidence in it. I'm sure many of us were not so lucky to have that kind of strength as geeky teenagers!
