Hey everyone, i have zero upper body strength and i noticed insanity uses a lot of push up like routines, did you guys benefit or see loss when you were not able to do that particular workout.

and did you eventually be able to do that workout after a while? thanks!

oh also i have a HRM but it doesn't record my average HR, my just tells me what it is at the moment and for calorie burn ( i got the cheaper one)

  • Hi! I am on day 14. When I did my first FIT test, I put 0 for the pushups. After only a week I was able to do some, and now I can do about half as many as the people in the video. So if they are doing 8 in a row, I do 4 very slow ones. I havent measured my arms again..I am waiting until Day 30, but yes I def have more strength in my upper body already.
So my advice is just try your best...even if you can only do a couple in the beginning, it is still working on your strength. I seriously had no upper body strength either when I started. It's amazing how much stronger I feel in only 2 weeks.

As far as HRM, I have a cheap one too. I think what is more important is knowing your heart rate during the workout in case you need to take a break. When mine goes above 90% (which is often), I pause for a bit and breathe. Sometimes I stop the video (which you arent supposed to do), so I don't miss anything.

Good luck!! Keep us posted :). If you have other questions let me know.

Im on day 12 and loving it! I was able to do push-ups prior (thx to Jillian Michaels) but I find myself really having to push it with waking push-ups. Id say modify them in the beginning untl you can do them with good form. Good luck and feel free to friend me for support
  • I think thats totally possible by then! My goal just for the 60 days of Insanity would be around 10lbs...ideally I would like to lose around 20, but I dont want to get my hopes up and then be disappointed.

Just some advice, don't get discouraged if you dont lose any weight the first two weeks (or gain a lb or 2)...they say your muscles will retain water because of the stress put on them.

I could tell I was retaining water because my hands were really puffy and I was sore. I gained a lb the first week...just at the end of my 2nd week I started seeing a small loss. Like I said though, I still lost 1.5 inches in my waist so it must be doing something!

They also say month two is when you see dramatic results. Some days if I workout in the morning I will put on Cardio Abs in the evening just for a little extra calorie burn.

Yay good luck!! Message me Id love to hear how you are doing. I start week 3 tomorrow!

I was able to do pushups before but I used to suffer after a few, now I can keep up with the videos (in month 2 you do 16 in a row in a full body drill). I definitely lost a lot of inches everywhere but very little weight, around 5 lbs. don't get discouraged and forget the scales. There are many reasons your weight will go up probably in the first 2-3 weeks, stick with it, it's worth it!

Congrats on the inch loss, that 1.5 was after two weeks, that's not bad...its a diff from losing 10 lbs and looking like you've lost 20 vs. losing 10 lbs and looking like youve lost 10 lbs :) I'm more concern about the inch loss with me instead of the weight loss

My upper body stregnth is absolutely dismal.... but it's definitely improving

I think with this program, you're going to gain muscle, so you may or may not see a lot of weight loss, but if you measure, you should see a difference.

I personally have a goal pair of cargos... I haven't been able to fit in them at all, so I will be ECSTATIC if I can fit them by the end!
