Motivation to exercise?

Hello, I'm new here and wondered if anyone could help me out?
I've been suffering from IBS for about 8 years now, it's stress related and doesn't seem to matter what I eat or what medication I take when flare ups occur.
The problem is when it flares up I find it really hard to do any exercise, what with the pain and my belly swelling too big for my sweats!
I know that exercise will be really beneficial for both relieving stress and my symptoms, but I find it really hard to get any motivation or to know even which exercises to do!
I really enjoy swimming, low impact aerobics and yoga, you think these are ok exercises to do?
Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated! x

Hi, I have crohns disease and I know exactly what you mean with bloating, pain, and nausea. I am having serious issues with nausea lately, and its so hard to wake up every morning wanting to throw up. For the bloating, I take Gas X and the chewables help the best. However, by the end of the day I still feel pinched in my clothes. I have found stretch jeans from Dots are great for bloating. As I lose weight I keep my old jeans which are looser in the waist for the serious bloating days. I have to wear a long shirt to cover when they slide down, but they do look better than sweats and I feel more "normal" in them.

As for exercise, that is a very frustrating part for me also. I try to walk outside in the sun when I can, but it is not a daily event. Some days I just can't move my body to do much more than shower.

I am not sure if you like yogurt, but I have found Dannon Light and Fit fruit on the bottom Greek yogurt tastes great and my crohns seems to deal just find with it. Its only 80 calories a cup, and I try to eat 12 a week. It has the probotics that helps with the painful gas and bloating.

I hope you are having a good day.

Thank you for your advice and support!
I've been to my doctor and I'm taking some new IBS tablets which are helping a lot.
I'm definitely going to give some probiotics a try too, I've heard a lot of good things about them.
    Thanks!

I have the problem with the pain but I have very little bloating. I have read that a gluten free diet could help. Has anyone else heard of this?
