Is Being Overweight An Eating Disorder?

Dear Leslie Peeps,
You all know that I've been struggling with body image issues...the fat person inside trying to come back out, disgust with some physical defects that I have. Also trying to at least cut back on sugar, which has been an eye opener. It's complex and not likely
to get any easier. We have this love/hate relationship with food and fitness, a lot of how we see ourselves is tied up in it. Person-
ally I feel like a food addict... a feeling that was reinforced this morning when I gained four pounds...UGH!!!
Anyway, we know that anorexia and bulimia are eating disorders. Today I feel like crap about the weight, and got to wondering if
being overweight is an eating disorder as well. I googled it and found that even the experts were divided. This whole idea is hitting
me hard and I wanted to know how this resonates (or not) with each of you. What do you think? Is being overweight an eating dis-
order? Looking forward to hearing your ideas...

I am taking the undereating class mine was undereating called In His Image. its helped me to find my triggers points. hope this helps. (the class is free)0

It is hard to not be discouraged when we gain weight. Especially when we are trying so hard to get in better shape. You know your body can hold up to an extra 5 pounds of water on any given day. As long as you are making steps in the right direction you will be successful. I suggest reading Made to Crave by Lysa Terkeurst. It is a really good book about fulfilling your desires with God, not food. It is a book about weight loss. I found it to be very motivating and encouraging. It helps to put things into proper perspective. It was a real blessing to me. I hope you will be blessed, too.0

Thank you both for your compassionate responses...I am involved in two Life Groups at church that I take over the PC since it is hard
with the CP to leave the house. Once things get a little less crazy there, I'll most likely check into the Lord's Table. Tonight I'll start the
Made To Crave(which I had but hadn't read) and we'll see what happens. Hopefully I'll have more to share as time goes on. Thanks so much for your help.0
