Just realized my hair stopped falling out

A little off-topic, but...
My hair has never looked like it was thinning, but I've always been a shedder. I have thick hair and I always had a clump on the shower drain and a clump of hair clinging to the back of my legs after a shower (like it came off my head and just stuck to my legs on the way down). Then when I dried my hair, I'd have to sweep up the bathroom floor afterward because of all the other hair that fell out.
This morning when I was washing my hair, I realized that it doesn't happen anymore. I still lose a few stray hairs here and there, but nothing like before. I think it must be that over the past 3 or 4 months, I've made a really good effort at increasing protein. I don't take any vitamins or supplements (other than protein powder once a day, if that) and my veggies are about the same, maybe a little more. I think it's definitely the protein that makes a difference.
/anecdotal evidence

I agree!
I've never been much of a shedder, but the only dietary change I've made in the last 3 months is to up my protein (like you, I use protein powder once a day, but otherwise it's all from whole foods), and for the first time that I can remember, the skin on my back is completely smooth. Not a bump. Nothing else has changed - who knew? Protein - for pretty muscles AND other body parts!0 -
I was thinking this the other day myself. I have always lost a lot of hair, and since my daughters do too, I thought it was just a hereditary thing for us, but I am not losing near as much hair now, which is awesome.0

which protein powder do you all use?0

which protein powder do you all use?
I use Now Sports Pea protein, because whey makes my stomach hurt and GMO soy gives me the heebie-jeebies.0 -

I use Designer Whey. It's whey based (obviously) and it's sweetened with Stevia. A couple times I've had a diet drink with splenda (which is what a lot of the other cheaper powders are sweetened with) and my insides instantly cramped, so I'm assuming for me personally that it's something I want to avoid.0 -

I have tried many. Most whey proteins give me gut-ache, bad wind, bloating and the runs. Even some of the expensive and recommended ones. Most recently I am combining egg white protein powder, smooth milk protein (casein) and an impact whey deluxe. The combo of the three only seems to give me a little flatulence. I live in the UK and use My Protein. I also buy their kg tubs of peanut butter and almond butter.0 -

Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey. I like their flavors and other brands I have tried let me bloated or with a stomach ache so I stick with it.0 -

so, wait...designer whey doesn't screw up your insides?? this is TMI but i quit protein shakes (whey is all I think I can afford, lol) because i seriously was so gassy my husband was ready to leave me. and i was literally pooping only once a week!!! even with loads of fiber.
should i try designer whey?? i'm scared. haha..0 -
Well, I don't have any issues with dairy, which is what Designer is. I mainly bought it because it was the only one Target had that wasn't sweetened with sucralose. Sucralose/Splenda is what I think doesn't agree with me. Two different times I've had coke zero, my insides immediately clenched up after the first sip. I've never had any other problem like that with any other soda. It may have been something other than the sucralose that set me off, but I don't want to drop $20 on a jar of powder that might make me sick.0

I use Dymatize Elite All Natural in Vanilla and Chocolate, and have never had a problem with them in the past, but since changing to a primal diet, something is bothering my stomach, i'm not sure if it's the powder or my greek yogurt ...or something else entirely. But I love the Chocolate as a shake and the vanilla I mix with plain unflavored yogurt with some cinnamon or berries for a treat.0

could be that you are one of the unlucky ones.
some people have that issue with ALL the powders. That being said, no harm in trying, go to store and ask for samples of different kinds (whey, pea, soy) maybe one of them will work for you.0
