Vegans: do you 80/10/10 or go with mfp recommendations?

Hi there Vegan friends!

I have been trying to eat a higher percentage of carbs, and lower fat and protein as I have seen recommended by many raw vegans. I am not fully raw, but aiming to eat raw for the majority of my meals. Problem is-- I don't feel full when my fat and protein are so low. Any tips or ideas on what I might be doing wrong?

I try to go with the mfp settings, getting extra protein if I can manage it. I like to work out hard and if I don't get enough protein I feel really sore.

I don't eat 100% raw currently (working my way back up there, slowly), but even when I was, I went with mfp's recommended settings, for the same reason you mentioned (not feeling full enough), and also because I found I could get a lot more variety with higher fat/protein :)

I'm not 100% vegan (I do eat pastured eggs), but I don't think you have to use any certain ratio -- mine is around 50/15/35. I eat a lot of almonds, coconut and avocado and find I feel best on moderate carbs, moderate protein and slightly higher fat. You could also easily go higher in protein with no harm done. I don't think any ratio is gospel, I would just tweak it until it feels best for you.

Or you could shoot for a certain amount of protein a day (50g would be around the RDA minimum) and eat whatever you want for the rest.

I felt crappy not getting enough protein, I was getting like 15% and it sucked. I wouldn't rec it...

i try to get as much protein as i can without worrying about it too much. always try to make sure there is some sort of protein source worked in to my meals in addition to the fruits and veggies that make up most of what I eat.

Actually just looked at your food diary, you seem to be getting in a good 70g of protein day.. if you don't do really heavy workouts then thats actually more than enough. I shall shut my mouth! haha
