results of half

Finished my third half yesterday, couldn't be happier! My first two halves I finished in 2:21, walked through parts of them and was so sore after them (the first one was a year ago, the second one was this past January) I kicked up my training and ran my third this weekend and nailed it in 2:02, a 19 minute improvement!! I am doing my 4th half in the end of June and shooting for sub 2 :)
I was fortuante to be able to run with my sister and we kept each other going, and the next race we are running together also. It was a great race with perfect weather, just couldn't be happier (well my legs could be a little happier, they were not happy with me with my 3 mile recovery run today!)

next stop signing up for our first marathon!

AWESOME!!! :drinker: I was thrilled to do my first half in sub 3 (by 44 seconds, lol!). My second 1/2 is this weekend, not sure how that's going to go but I'm excited. I'll also be running it with my sister.

That is awesome!! I just finished my first half (on Sunday). I have a lot of room for improvement, but I'm excited to keep working at it like you have done. Which one did you run on Sunday?

    Thanks all :)
I actually trained for this on the purpose of improving my speed. I did hill work, speed work and mixed in some tempo runs. My first two halves it was more about surviving :)

I used Galloway's magic mile to predict my half time. It was great because as the weeks moved on it was something very tangible that I could see my improvement. My first "magic mile" was 8:21 the last one I did was 7:03 so I could tell i was getting faster, so it was a great confidence booster.

At the race I did, they are very brilliant, and they offer cups with straws and lids! It makes running through the water stops easy!

Congratulations on absolutely killing your previous PR with a new one!

Do you already have a full in mind to sign up for? I'm doing my first full in just under two weeks. The one thing I didn't really think about when I signed up was that a May race meant my training began in January. So, I had to load up on all sorts of cold weather gear and climb out of my warm, toasty bed to get my training runs in outside in the cold and darkness! It all worked out OK, and honestly I prefer running in cooler vs. hotter weather - but just something to consider when you choose a race! Training for a full has been far more physically (and mentally) challenging than I thought it would be (and I was expecting it to be tough!).

    Congrats, again!

Very nice results. That's a great time and you knocked a lot off of your previous PR. Looks like you took the training on this one really seriously. Best of luck on this next one. I have no doubt you'll get it in under 2 hours.

well done! that's an awesome improvement! I am looking to do 3 more halves this year before I sign up to a full next year. My first half was 2:18 and I am hoping to get to 2:10 or better.

Good stuff. Love when training comes together with all the other stuff like good weather, no injuries, alarm clock goes off :)
    Enjoy. :drinker:

I have a full in mind, it is in October. So my training would be rough, through the summer heat, but that should equate to a better time come cooler weather in October. we will see I'm still debating..the thought of 20 mile training runs is very daunting!

Nice job guys! So excited to see so many long distance runners on here. Your enthusiasm often keeps me going.

I am doing my third full in October, so I am trying to find a fun half that won't cost me an arm and a leg.
